Please watch this clip:

Before will find out if former Miss World runners-up Andrea Meza or Sophie Moulds or Stephanie Hill will represent their respective countries at the upcoming 69th Miss Universe. We will focus on several Miss World runners-up (Top 2/3) who later ended up as clappers at Miss Universe.

Anna Jónsdóttir of Iceland: Miss World 1987 2nd Runner Up to Miss Universe 1988 clapper
Siobhan McClafferty of Ireland: Miss World 1990 1st Runner Up to Miss Universe 1991 clapper
Michelle Khan of Trinidad & Tobago: Miss World 1995 2nd Runner Up to Miss Universe 1996 clapper
Zizi Lee of Aruba: Miss World 2001 1st Runner Up to Miss Universe 2004 clapper
Ingrid Rivera of Puerto Rico: Miss World 2005 2nd Runner Up to Miss Universe 2008 clapper
Gabrielle Walcott of Trinidad & Tobago: Miss World 2008 2nd Runner Up to Miss Universe 2011 clapper

Almost fell in the "runners-up curse": Martina Thorogood of Venezuela: Miss World 1999 1st Runner Up that supposed to compete at Miss Universe 2000. Two versions came up either MUO rejected Martina's application because she might inherit the Miss World crown had Yukta resigned/dethroned or MWO asked Martina to sign the contract that prevented her from competing at other pageants (possibly applied to all the continental queens of beauty recently).

There are 4 of most recent Miss World Top 5/7 finalists who failed to place in the Top 3 yet they finished at least in the Top 5 at Miss Universe, two of them ended up winning the Miss Universe crown.
Lolita Morena of Switzerland: Miss World 1982 3rd Runner Up to Miss Universe 1983 3rd Runner Up (same placement vs previous international pageant like Yanina* and Punika**)
Roberta Brown of Ireland: Miss World 1982 6th Runner Up to Miss Universe 1983 2nd Runner Up (highest placed delegate from Europe)
Michelle McLean of Namibia: Miss World 1991 4th Runner Up to Miss Universe 1992 Winner
Catriona Gray of the Philippines: Miss World 2016 3rd Runner Up to Miss Universe 2018 Winner

We will find out in the coming months if Andrea M., Sophie or Stephanie H. will win the national title and possibly break the "curse" at 69th Miss Universe.

* Yanina finished 3rd Runner Up at Miss Universe 2004, she also finished Miss Fire (equivalent to 3rd Runner Up) at Miss Earth 2004.
** Punika finished Miss Water (equivalent to 2nd Runner Up) at Miss Earth 2013, she also finished 2nd Runners Up finishes at Miss International 2014 and recent Miss Universe Thailand 2020 respectively.

it cannot be a curse anymore if from MW as runners up they placed in Miss Universe or won Miss Universe.

Some of them won the Miss Universe crown so it's not a curse.

Since 1981 (except 2005-2006; 2018-2019), The finalists who failed to reach the Top 3 were only given the official rankings at the coronation ball. Although they were considered as part of runners-up it was an unofficial one. Loretta, Roberta, Michelle and Catriona failed to win a place in the Top 3 yet they received trophies and cash prizes during the coronation ball as part of recognition. Technically there is a "curse" surrounding the Miss World runners-up who were clapped at Miss Universe later on.

Two Miss World runners-up (one was 1st RU and the other was 2nd RU) also became clappers at Miss International too! Do you know them?

Both British girls:
Claire Elizabeth Smith of United Kingdom: Miss World 1992 1st Runner Up to Miss International 1993 clapper
Juliet-Jane Horne of Scotland: Miss World 2001 2nd Runner Up to Miss International 2002 clapper

But I focused on Miss World and Miss Universe because of the three part online series from The Pageant Nerd's Friendly Comparison between these two oldest international pageants in the world.

I really enjoyed watching The Pageants Nerd YouTube Channel, I was thinking do you have girls in mind guys? We had a lot of those previous local winners with potential to crossover in the local national pageants and then represent us in the international competition, possible eventual winner?

For me, I was rooting for Michelle Marquez Dee Miss World Philippines 2019 to Miss International? [-O< [-O< [-O<

For other girls don't know if they're still qualified or interested?
