Zulia is an example of resilience to everything we live Proud. This is how the new Miss Venezuela feels about representing Zulia’s culture to the world. Mariángel Villasmil, born in Ciudad Ojeda, says she has suffered from the crisis that her countrymen are experiencing. For this reason, she is sure that by becoming the new sovereign of national beauty, she brought a little joy to Zulia.
“Being the first Miss Venezuela from Zulia after 36 years is a way to bring joy to the entire state. Zulianos are an example of resilience to what we live. We, as an organization, are not ignorant of what we are experiencing, but the contest is a way of bringing joy, “said Villasmil.
Zulia is one of the states that has suffered the most difficulties due to the crisis of public services in the country. Although it is true that the entire national territory suffers from the neglect of the Nicolás Maduro regime, and before Hugo Chávez, in Zulia it has taken on greater dimensions.
Despite the situation, the new sovereign of national beauty wants to represent Zulianos before the whole world. She highlights that some already recognize her as “the queen of the patacón.” “I am proud to represent the Zulian feeling that, without a doubt, leaves footprints wherever it steps.”
Mariángel was accompanied by Alejandra Conde, Miss Venezuela World, and Isbel Parra, Miss Venezuela International. Dressed by Giovanni Scutaro, the new cadre of national beauty spoke about her projects and preparation for international competitions at a press conference held by Zoom.
Asked by journalists about the recent controversies that the organization has faced, specifically with the outgoing queen Thalía Olvino, the representative of Venezuela before the Miss Universe expressed without fear that her reign will be different. Her goal is to live a year full of positive things. Controversy, she says, is a way of showing that changes are being made within the organization.
“I feel a very beautiful energy with my colleagues and with the organization, I want this to be a reign of only beautiful things. Miss Venezuela is the representation of the beauty of the Venezuelan woman and that is how it will continue to be, in spite of everything,” she says.
Her interview with the jury was controversial due to a question from Shairi Arredondo, an image consultant, which went viral on social networks. However, Villasmil saw that moment as an opportunity to demonstrate her intelligence. “I felt that I could demonstrate my ability to respond to uncomfortable situations. I maintain that self-love is something that should accompany us throughout life.
Although after the interview she became one of the favorites to win the crown, she says that she has been surprised by the receptivity of the public with her choice. “I assume the commitment to leave the name of Venezuela high. The acceptance of the public will be key in my reign”.
Also present at the meeting with the media were the winners of the Miss World Venezuela titles, Alejandra Conde, and Miss International Venezuela, Isbel Parra. Both queens agreed that their preparation will be based on strengthening their weaknesses in order to win both international crowns.
For Conde, a medical student at UCV, participating in the midst of the pandemic was an experience that, despite the difficulties, turned into something beautiful. “We have all been affected by this situation. However, my job right now is to bring support and positive messages to all citizens” she says.
She hopes to use his training as a doctor for the project that will lead to Miss World. She understands that it is a contest with different standards and therefore hopes that his proposal will bring him closer to the seventh crown of the oldest beauty contest in the world.
“I want to work with the issue of nutrition in children and the elderly. We are working hard because I want it to be a beautiful project”, highlights the 23-year-old.
And although she has been criticized for her stature, she has no doubt that it will not be a limitation to bring the seventh column of Miss World to the country. Preparation, beauty and focus has.
“I lost the fear of showing myself as I am. You don’t need a crown to do positive things. People want to see our real part and if I am here it is because the jury and the organization saw potential in me ”, says Conde.
She added: “Thank you for supporting Miss Venezuela. The world did not stop and just as the contest went ahead, our country will go forward”.
The new Miss Venezuela International, Isbel Parra, was clear that she wanted a crown. Now she is focused on being Miss International and that, as was seen in Miss Venezuela, the public can follow her evolution.
“I showed my growth in the contest and I feel that in the end that was what made the audience and the jury fall in love. Now I feel that they will begin to see the result of everything that we have prepared for ourselves ”. She also feels that the Miss International Organization is satisfied with her choice due to some winks in the photos she has uploaded to her social networks.
The three queens were chosen in an unprecedented gala: a prerecorded show without an audience due to the pandemic. The contest, questioned, criticized and followed by many, continues to arouse national and international interest. Hopes for new crowns are never lost.
Queens feel ready to represent the country Optimistic queens, fighters and determined to do their best at their job. In that, the winners of Miss Venezuela 2020 Mariángel Villasmil, Isbel Parra and Alejandra Conde agreed, who will go to the Miss Universe, Miss International and Miss World, respectively.
Villasmil does not want controversies
In their first meeting with the media, through the zoom platform, the young women also agreed that, although this year's election was atypical due to the pandemic, “everything was successful thanks to the teamwork we did for six months. They took care of our health, they followed us. Everything for Venezuela to have the contest that is already part of our culture ”, they affirmed.
Zuliana Villasmil, for her part, affirmed that she received all the good energies sent to her from her home state. “Despite everything, the audience was with me. Supported me. They even named me the queen of the patacón. I like to be optimistic, because that has nothing to do with not knowing reality. It made me very happy to have given this joy to my people”.
Miss Venezuela 2020 affirmed that during her reign she hopes to be away from controversy; “The reception that social networks gave me has been very positive. The same is the chemistry with the Organization. You have to bet on that, ”she said.
Parra shows discipline
For her part, Isbel Parra said that she was always confident that she would go far: “My triumph was a sum of all the effort and discipline that I put in during these six months. If they call that bump, then yes I was ”.
She added that her preparation will always have sport as its north. She is a gymnast and wants to be in tune with the country where the contest will be: Japan. "It will be a nice coincidence with the Olympics".
Conde is safe
Conde, on the other hand, received a lot of criticism since she was chosen, due to her stature. That was never an obstacle for her. "I am very sure and proud of myself because what really matters is how big you are inside."
The medical student also said that with her career she is willing to help those who need it as she did with the population of El Limón. "I worked attending to its inhabitants."

I think the makeup she has can make her look like a clown but I think she is probably very fresh under all those layers. She will not be at her full potential though with the current organization sadly, but she will place
