I don't know how much April has improved from last year, but she is a very pretty girl. She lacked charisma and speaking ability from what I can remember, but I'm not sure how much Miss World takes that into account. Being that she's not a national titleholder I doubt she will win and don't see her equaling Ophély either, but I'd say she's a for-sure placement.

She succeeds Ophély Mézino, 1st runner-up of Miss France 2019 and Miss World France 2019, and will represent France in Miss World 2021. She is 22 years old, stands 176cm in height and comes from the city of Éguilles (Bouches-du-Rhône, Provence). As far as I know, she's been the most exposed 1st runner-up in decades. She went to Fort-Boyard alone, that is a huge thing, usely only the current Miss France goes (former ones don't count, they all come back again at it at some point, but runner-ups, that's a new thing).

Strategically speaking as a ND I would have sent April to Miss Universe in Israel this year. Not only is she half Israeli and Miss Universe caliber but her anti Sémitism backstory could not be anymore perfect for this occasion. She would have been a huge favorite for the Miss Universe crown.
And I would have convinced Clémence to do MW instead.

Yeah April at an Israeli Miss Universe would have been a statement but if Miss France shafted a former titleholder to prioritize a runner-up just to make a statement then I think that wouldn't have been okay.

I’m sure a lot of crown hungry countries would have seized this golden chance.
And since Julia prefers National winners it’s a win win situation.

Clemence’s dream is to compete at Miss Universe. She waited 2 years for this opportunity. There is no way you can convince her to switch to MW.

It’s not like MW is a minor pageant. I feel like a ND should have the right to switch their international reps sometimes based on strategy. This of course would have been inappropriate if Clémence was the winner of a “Miss Universe France” title. Which isn’t the case here.

Of course, Miss World is not a minor contest at all but Miss Universe is more popular than Miss World in France and young women prefer to compete in Miss Universe rather than Miss World. We can't push Clémence to go compete in Miss World if she doesn't really want to, I even think that it would be counterproductive to do that because Clémence would have no motivation at Miss World and, without motivation, she would have a 99% chance of clapping at Miss World. Besides, I don't think Morley will crown two black Caribbean women in a row.
To be honest, I think directors should listen to their contestants on where they will go. Sure, April might be a good fit for Miss Universe given that her Israeli/Jewish heritage might help, but Clemence, being the winner of Miss France herself, should definitely live her dream to go to Miss Universe, since that is what she wants. Sending a contestant to a pageant that they do not even want to go to might even harm the chances of the country to even place at such pageant. Plus, April's story on dealing with antisemitism in France would definitely be a story that can be featured well in the Beauty With A Purpose advocacy that Miss World has always enshrined.Thomas876 wrote:Fany wrote:Jonathan Nguyen wrote:Fany wrote:Arduina wrote:I agree with Thomas, I'm pretty sure the trial she went through (she was the one suing haters/antisemists on social media) will be of good use, she might even advocate on that for her BWAP. April is a stunner. She might place in top 30 or top 10 but crown, 0 chance
