UNOLOGY’s Final Prediction for Miss Universe 2020

Postby UNO - God of Beauty » Sat May 15, 2021 1:27 am

After the prelims:

Winner THAILAND

Her face screams Miss Universe. Exquisite and young looking. Thailand got it right this time. My fear before was that she might end up losing her identity just like Paween and would be like another Catriona version. But, Amanda proved she is her own brand and not a copycat. Kudos.

She nailed all aspects of the prelims. She was mesmerizing in her SS and that gown performance was flawless! She is the one to beat.

This is THAILAND’s year!

1st PUERTO RICO

Very close second. She's giving me an older version of Oxana. Matured looking yet queenly. She aced the prelims!
I don’t mind seeing her win too. Such a very strong candidate and if she pulls a win, it reminds me of 2005 and 2006 wherein Cynthia Oliviera was first runner up and the following year, Zuelyka won. Last year PR was first runner up and who knows if this is deja vu.

2nd MEXICO

Impeccable! She is gorgeous! She was delightful from
Her NC to SS to EG. It can be a back to back 2nd runner up placement for Mexico.

3rd SOUTH AFRICA

That face... Goddess! But definitely no back to back. Her gown reminded me of the velvet green gown Demi wore. Maybe she's gonna be pulling another stunt come finals night.

4th USA

She is giving me that Culpo vibe, who is just playing it cool yet ready for a kill. And when she opens her mouth, she is reminding me of the late Chelsi Smith. She is not so hyped yes, but we can never deny that she is very charming on stage and might pull a surprise in the finals.

Top 10

Philippines

Hope she change her gown. It was a let down. Maybe because Pia wore blue and Cat wore res, and as a nod to the Philippine flag, they chose yellow as it symbolizes the sun. But it’s not working on her favor. Sad. She is prettier on her MUP stint. I just dont know what happened in her EG? Well, Demi’s prelim EG was a let down too. Who knows. Still high hopes for Rabiya.

Nepal

Gorgeous. Towering. Simply impeccable. I hope she will place. Tall, intelligent and she is on fire. Love her energy during the prelims. Her performance is actually better than Philippines to be honest.

Vietnam

She is giving Venezuela a good fight. Fiesty! I love that she is not timid at all. After Venezuela, it is always difficult to follow them, but no, this girl is just flawless.

Venezuela

I can see Isler in her. She might pull a surprise. Change that red gown though. But surely, this girl is divine. She has that Miss Venezuelan mark that is truly remarkable.

Colombia

Beautiful gown as expected. Commendable stage presence. I don’t mind seeing her in the top 5.

Brazil
Dominican Republic
Canada

Iceland
Myanmar

Amanda is gorgeous!
If Amanda manages to win tomorrow it would be the third Miss Universe crown for her country since 1988

Something's wrong with her make-up it's overwhelming on her. I thought she nailed it with her SS but the EG is too old-fashioned for me. Akala ko ba game-changer? She didn't look comfortable with it and it's obvious. To add insult to injury, my gawd, the color is terrible. A silver gown would've looked stunning on her no matter what the style is. Bad call Jonas. Why Ms Thailand always delivers in EG?

We have the same winner. I was torn between Thailand, Peru and the Dominican Republic. Thailand sealed it for me with her evening gown.

We share 14 of the same girls.

I don't think USA is going to place as high as everyone thinks.

South Africa has a pretty face but she looks somewhat short and squatty. Her evening gown presentation was horrible.

I don’t know but USA is such a dark horse and her solid performance at the prelims plus her interview are reasons for me to be convinced that she might place as high as top 5. I think she’s the strongest black candidate this year. Yes, not so much hype but she is shining just right.

Mama J is a close friend of mine and I know he has an impeccable taste. Perhaps the gown has a different impact in person. Perhaps they are downplaying. But I know, Rabiya and the whole team are brewing something pasabog come finals night.

Every time someone dares compare Asya to the absolute goddess Chelsi Smith, I just want to vomit all over my keyboard. That poor woman is rolling in her grave at that comparison.

It’s a good color pick for her to stand out. It was the cut and structure of the gown. It made her not tall to look at.
A silver gown will drown with everyone donning silver glitters

Same with me. PR has grown in me and at first I thought i am seeing a bit of Denise Quiñones in her. But come prelims, i’m blown away. About Amanda, Me and my friends are still nervous as we are not confident at her communication skills , but if she is practicing and preparing for it, there is a possibility that she can deliver a good answer and that will definitely seal the deal. Just one good question with prepared good and satisfying answer, then it’s game over.

Re: UNOLOGY’s Final Prediction for Miss Universe 2020

Postby Jake.Horan » Sun May 16, 2021 12:08 pm

First of all, Uno my bro...it feels like it's been D.E.C.A.D.E.S!!!! Howsit goin with you man? I hope you're keeping safe wherever you are at the mo with Covid and everything >:D<

I haven't followed Miss Universe this year as keenly and as intensely as I did the last couple of years, but I have seen the prelims and have to give a nod of approval on some of your choices.

I agree with you with Puerto Rico, except for me, Estefania is one of the two chicks I see ending up with the crown tomorrow. She gives me a Gabriela Isler 2013 energy by virtue of maturity which, in that regard, she can be rather polarising. But she expresses herself commendably and with quiet confidence, plus she knows how to deliver on stage. I mean, that Taliana Vargas-esque gown twirl from the gods (minus the charm, because Tali IS Tali, periodt)? Gotdamb Check with a captial C.

Another person I see winning is India. Because face. Because brain. Because presentation. I reckon Adline did exceptional during preliminaries but what I admire most about her is her ability to communicate impeccably, and the tone of her voice is whoa? Very reminiscent of when India was a serious Miss Universe powerhouse in the 90s and early noughties. That Telemundo interview was a total revelation for me and her prelims performance sealed the deal. What's your critique of her overall performance?

As for Thailand, I definitely see Amanda landing a top 5 spot because she is an amazing performer with an excellent command on stage and she serves face; probably one of the best performances I have seen from yesterday. I couldn't get myself to care significantly about Amanda's immaculate styling because...it's Thailand. I mean, more power to her and her team but an expensive wardrobe is a Thai pageant staple, and it is an expectation I have from their representative. Their past 5-6 queens from Aniporn's time have brought down the pageant house sartorially, so it's nothing new. She will EASILY land a top 5 spot. The challenge is for Amanda to be able to successfully substantiate her thoughts and make a powerful lasting impact on that final question, and that crown is hers. I just feel that India and PR have done this better with their interviews.

USA has been sleeping on me but who knows, just like Nia Sanchez in 2014 who was pretty much AWOL in Doral, Asya might pull out a surprise tomorrow. Defo semifanilst in my books.

South Africa is a shoe in for top 10 I reckon. I still have confidence in Natasha though despite that EG because Demi pulled that rather interesting green number on her preliminary EG presentation during her time and people were counting her out, but her finals night look had WINNER written all over her face. I'm excited to see what they'll come up with tomorrow.

I honestly don't get Nepal but I see her in Top 21.

As for the Philippines, Rabiya has proven herself to be smart and passionate about the things she believes in, and if this version of Miss Universe followed the same IMG format as the last two years then that will see her through to the end, so I am confident about her Q&A capabilities. She killed it on her SS performance, but I have to agree with you on her EG. It's beautifully made but I think it's not the right gown or her styling is not right (although to be fair, I have never liked Rabiya's gown choices for the comp since her local pageant - the gown is pretty on its own...it's just too much fabric for her stature. I don't get the obsession with capes, it looks like it's drowning her. She's not that tall). What gives me some confidence about her, apart from her speaking abilities and despite her prelims EG, is that her team consists of the very same people who have looked after your previous representatives, and they have not the best gowns either (or entire wardrobe for that matter). But they always pull it off with some pageant magic at the time when it matters, and they end up triumphant. So I won't count Rabiya out yet. I see her in my Top 10. She has to redeem herself on her EG performance tomorrow.

Ultimately for me, it's between Puerto Rico and India for the crown.
