There should be a new generation of better Pinoy politicians firming up, after going through with the one sitting in Malacanang right now.

Dictatorial form of government, like the current one and China's, has been proven many many times to be ineffective, breeds more corruption in contrary to what they falsely promised at the beginning, and is giving more problems and headaches to the people of the society. Can't wait to wake up in a brighter morning.

We just need to have highly intelligent, highly creative and highly educate, moral Philippine populace to get back to democratic form of political power.

Only when I became a devout Catholic was I often reminded that it was God who created us according to His image and likeness and He being our Creator, makes Him our Father and we are all brothers and sisters in Christ. Do we not love so much our own flesh and blood that we look after not only their physical but also their spiritual well-beings? When the spirit of God dwells in the heart and mind of a man, He governs his thoughts, actions, and feelings. We who worship God know His loving, merciful, and forgiving nature and His holy, just, and perfect character. There will be no more room for pride, hatred, envy, jealousy, or greed in his heart. Compassion for his neighbors grows in his heart.

God only wants His people to be as or as almost close to how loving, forgiving, and merciful as He is. How can we show mercy to people if all are but rich? Doesn't a man give alms to the poor he sees begging outside the church because he empathizes with them? Giving is his way of showing the gratitude he has for God for all His kindness to him. It is his way of telling the needy that God loves them because He sends them messengers of His love and mercy for them in those people who extend their helping hands to them.

Everyone of us has fallen short of the glory of God because of our sins. Sinful is our nature. Although God has put his laws in our minds and have them written in our hearts, we still commit sin because He also gave us free will and it includes even disobeying Him and falling to the trap of Satan which co-exists with us here on earth. If we do not put on God as our armor against evil, we will find ourselves so attached to the things found here on earth that we are more than willing to do evil so we will get what we want. Didn't Lord Jesus Christ say that what good does it do to a man when he gains the whole world but loses his soul? Any man who persists doing evil may not have come across His words. We just cannot hear the words of God during the Holy Mass and when we reach home forget them. We have to reflect on His words, bear them always in mind and apply them into our lives. Didn't Lord Jesus Christ say that whoever hears His words and act accordingly is a wise man who has built his house on a rock?

I believe we need a leader who will always remind the people he governs the existence of God, the mortality of their bodies, and the immortality of their souls. We need a leader who tells people to not only think about the here and now because everything here on earth is fleeting. The presence or the absence of God always manifests in our words, thoughts, actions, and feelings. People experience trials or hardships. Those who worship God know whose refuge they will seek. All they have to do is to tell God not to forsake them. Those who lack faith in God resort to vices. That faith in God gives us hope, reason why deliberately killing ourselves isn't an option because we know He loves us.

That faith In God gives us hope because we know that He being powerful, there's nothing impossible with Him. I was a lost sheep myself for so many years of my life before I relocated here. It is His work that not only did I bother read the Holy Bible or did I develop the habit of hearing the Holy Mass regularly but also I can quote the words of Lord Jesus Christ. I was so shameless then to share my stories here that I should have been ashamed of. All I believed then I had as much freedom of expression that I took it against those people who told me I had offended their sensibilities. It's God work that I want everyone to see.

I am a devout Catholic and I can never find it in my heart to go in favor of the death penalty and to a war on drugs that has been proven to be unsuccessful in ending the proliferation and the use of illegal drugs. We are commanded by God not to kill. There are parties to a murder---the masterminds, the accomplices, the accessories, and the culprits. The people who will favor the restoration of the death penalty are likened to a mastermind to a murder, right? There will be no criminal rendered with a death penalty if there were no people approved its restoration, right? People should stop thinking about the here and now. Everyone of us will be judged according to the works we've done.

I am also against this war on drugs. No one has seen and has felt God's love and mercy more than a man who has experienced them. I had gone astray because I indulged often in worldly pleasures. Only when I brought myself closer to God was I able to turn my back from my vices. I want all the lost sheep out there to experience the same. I want them to be given a chance to reflect on their lives, to realize their mistakes, to show remorse, to ask God for His forgiveness, to turn their backs completely from their ugly and sinful ways and to have their world revolve around God.

When I brought myself closer to God, I seldom lose my temper. I became content. I saw and I always see what God has blessed me with and what He has done for me. When one is content, he becomes still. He doesn't look for things that make him happy because he knows he has God to keep Him company. He has God to talk to. He knows that may have fun drinking but it is just passing and it will just leave him with a terrible hang-over.

When I brought myself closer to God, I became more mindful of my very own sins. I find truth in what Lord Jesus Christ said that judge and you will be judged. That's how when will be called hypocrites because they have the habit of finding faults in another forgetting that they too are flawed individuals.

When I became a devout Catholic, I never considered myself to be better than the rest and it makes me wonder why people who belong to another denomination of Christians always criticize Catholics. I have heard a priest admitting in his homily that he is far from perfect. I, too, am.

Question: "What does the Bible say about the death penalty / capital punishment?"

Answer: The Old Testament law commanded the death penalty for various acts: murder (Exodus 21:12), kidnapping (Exodus 21:16), bestiality (Exodus 22:19), adultery (Leviticus 20:10), homosexuality (Leviticus 20:13), being a false prophet (Deuteronomy 13:5), prostitution and rape (Deuteronomy 22:24), and several other crimes. However, God often showed mercy when the death penalty was due. David committed adultery and murder, yet God did not demand his life be taken (2 Samuel 11:1-5, 14-17; 2 Samuel 12:13). Ultimately, every sin we commit should result in the death penalty because the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Thankfully, God demonstrates His love for us in not condemning us (Romans 5:8).

When the Pharisees brought a woman who was caught in the act of adultery to Jesus and asked Him if she should be stoned, Jesus replied, “If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her” (John 8:7). This should not be used to indicate that Jesus rejected capital punishment in all instances. Jesus was simply exposing the hypocrisy of the Pharisees. The Pharisees wanted to trick Jesus into breaking the Old Testament law; they did not truly care about the woman being stoned (where was the man who was caught in adultery?) God is the One who instituted capital punishment: “Whoever sheds man's blood, by man his blood shall be shed, for in the image of God He made man” (Genesis 9:6). Jesus would support capital punishment in some instances. Jesus also demonstrated grace when capital punishment was due (John 8:1-11). The apostle Paul definitely recognized the power of the government to institute capital punishment where appropriate (Romans 13:1-7).

How should a Christian view the death penalty? First, we must remember that God has instituted capital punishment in His Word; therefore, it would be presumptuous of us to think that we could institute a higher standard. God has the highest standard of any being; He is perfect. This standard applies not only to us but to Himself. Therefore, He loves to an infinite degree, and He has mercy to an infinite degree. We also see that He has wrath to an infinite degree, and it is all maintained in a perfect balance.

Second, we must recognize that God has given government the authority to determine when capital punishment is due (Genesis 9:6; Romans 13:1-7). It is unbiblical to claim that God opposes the death penalty in all instances. Christians should never rejoice when the death penalty is employed, but at the same time, Christians should not fight against the government’s right to execute the perpetrators of the most evil of crimes.
