I get why Thailand won...

Postby EffyScodelario » Tue Nov 12, 2019 9:04 am

Thailand may not be the most facially beautiful but the message of her speech is heartfelt and sounded so sincere.

However, Patch should have been given at least a runner up placement for her confidence in delivering the speech. It was almost flawlessly delivered. It could be that Japan is a patriarchal society that is why her message did not appeal to the Japanese audience. I may be overthinking but the organisation should have at least given her a podium finish for her effort. Again, a 4th runner up finish would have sufficed. I don't care who won in the end but Patch should have been up there in the Top 5.

Just accept reality that Patch was one of the top 8. We should learn to accept results of beauty pageants decided by judges. That is what we call sportsmanship.

Patch's speech and the way she delivered it would have scored very high in a Miss Universe competition. But then, it's Miss International, where winners are often difficult to predict. Maybe, just maybe, the judges were intimidated because of her fluency in English =;)) =;)) =;)) and, I agree, of Japan's patriarchal society.
I mean look at what they do to women in Japanese straight porn. =;)) =;)) =;))

Let's not overthink. Shit really happens sometimes. :%)) :%)) :%))

I also have a theory that the Japanese always want to see a FLAWLESS FACE without any spot, birthmark, mole or any type of blemishes. Try to review the FACES (just the facial aspect) of past winners they all have FLAWLESS FACE. I guess this was a demerit for Patch. Nevertheless she deserves at least a top 5 placement. Still a HUGE HUGE HUGE INJUSTICE!

Patch gave the best speech. But it was not enough to overcome her lack of stage presence. She really looked shy and tentative. Her pasarela was weak. She did not “own’ the stage... she was a tad too fast in her pasarela which could only mean she wasn’t relaxed. She was even caught by the camera adjusting her gown while on stage... it was very obvious that she was tense.... sayang..... lumabas pagka first timer niya Sa pageant world.....

Nevertheless, she gave a good fight... I am mighty proud of her!!! Congrats, Atty!

To the Miss International 2019, Miss Thailand.... it was a surprise win, but a deserving one at that!
Congratulations!!!

She reached Top8 with all your observations. How much weight or score are they giving to speech? Her speech as most of say was the best.

Yes, Patch deserved our congratulations. She did her best but I still believed the judges should have at least crowned her as 4th runner-up. On the other hand, Congratulations to Thailand for winning which is now for the books (First Big 5 victory - MI). Now, what do I think made Thailand get the judges’ nod? Her strongest quality that wowed the Japanese judges: sweetness & sincerity. Her speech was not as substantial as that of Patch but her opening sentence was to me was completely effective as a hook or attention- getter for a speech with a good train of thought. Finally, an added icing to her winning piece is her cute hesitations and miscues in English.

It didn’t matter that Miss Philippines delivered the best speech. Judges didn’t get hers (and Miss Indonesia’s) because, as the world witnessed it, the translator didn’t do her job.

Thailand is very deserving and fits the Miss International prototype , ethereal, swan like elegance, zen, cleam lines, long and lean, sleek, ballerina like elegance...... I wanted Patch to win but her styling from day 1 and the hairstyle during the finals ruined her chances...
