Will MI Org. finally experience a back to back victory?

Postby ajsy0203 » Fri Aug 02, 2019 8:56 am

Among the original 3 major beauty pageants, only Miss International did not have a back to back victory at their pageant but almost had it 4 times (finished 1st Runner Up).
USA (American Beauty) lost to Philippines in 1979
Venezuela lost to Panama in 1998
Venezuela lost to Poland in 2001
Venezuela lost to Ecuador in 2011

Among the 4 attempts, Venezuela has the most number of failed back to back victory attempts in the 58 year history. Now as the new Miss International Venezuela 2019 was chosen, is this the time to witness the 1st back to back victory of Miss International pageant? Will Mariem-Melissa be the next Dayana-Stefania tandem?

I don’t think the MIO is open to the idea.

I think Venezuela’s Miss International rep this year is better than their Miss Universe rep, but am not sure if she’s strong enough to be considered for an MI B2B. To me she’s a downgrade from Mariem. I’d consider Costa Rica first, or Paraguay, or even the Philippines, for an MI win this year over Venezuela.

Agreed, since 2012 to 2017 the winning country from the previous year becomes a clapper the following year. Only Indonesia managed to break the clapping streak last year, but they only got as high as Top 12. So the odds of a Back-to-back are almost impossible to happen.
Big FOUR pageants: Miss Universe, MW, MI and ME
All other pageants are MINOR pageants.

Yes. Although Venezuela continued to break the clapping streak, they made it only to first base this year.

A new "curse" begins: You made the first cut you can't advance further. Will it apply to Thailand at the 60th anniversary of Miss International next year?
