In my opinion, the show must be held in 2 hours.
1. The opening should be held outside the venue - preferably, the city center or any part of the city where it is held. The girls introduce themselves while in their national costumes, while their scores from the preliminary competition are shown, with pictures of them in evening gown, swimsuit, and their occupation/profession.
2. Their semi-finalist dress is different and must represent the uniqueness of each country's style.
3. The top 15 + 1 will be selected first, which will compete in swimsuit, which contains watery backgrounds and real props.
4. Afterwards, in order to give way for the judges to give their scores to the official tabulator, it will show videos of all 15 semi-finalists, which must last only a minute or so.
5. The top 10 will then be selected and the top 10 will compete in evening gown. They will be accompanied by chaperones and will have a background reminding them of formal city life (e.g. a park at night).
6. Then, a top 6 will be selected for the interview competition. The questions are simply preparatory and do not contain any references in society.
7. Afterwards, the top 3 will be selected for the final question and final look. The final question must be connected to society to determine if the girl is prepared to be an ambassadress for her nation and the world.
8. The final look will contain chaperones and employ a new background, with a serenading performer as usual, but he/she should not act as one of the chaperones.
9. Between the final look and the crowning moment, the winners of the Miss Photogenic, Congeniality, Best in National Costume, Best Swimsuit, and Best in Evening Gown (5 classic awards) will be announced via graphics (I prefer it this way.)
10. Afterwards, the host/s will thank everyone who made it possible, and the final walk of the outgoing Miss USA/Universe/Teen USA begins. She should wear her winning gown as a tribute unless she specifies to do a tribute to her parents or someone special. She can also wear her uniform at work to reflect her origins.
11. The results are announced in reverse order, but not too fast. The 1st runner-up is announced before the name of Miss USA/Universe/Teen USA. In Miss USA, the reigning Miss Universe gives the sash first; Miss Teen USA gives the bouquet; and the outgoing Miss USA puts the crown on. In Miss Universe, the first assistant gives the sash first; the second assistant (or Miss Teen USA if she can travel to the venue) gives the bouquet; and the outgoing Miss Universe puts the crown on her. In Miss Teen USA, the reigning Miss Universe gives the sash first; the reigning Miss USA gives the flowers, while Miss Teen USA puts the crown.
12. The show ends with the delegates congratulating the winner, while the hosts say ''goodnight'' or if held in a location in the Eastern Hemisphere, both ''goodnight'' and ''good morning'' for both the audience and the American audience.

Other notes:
1. The music that will be used will be the Orente and the neo-Orente. Only the Orente is used for the selection of the semi-finalists and the information segment, and introducing the outgoing Miss Universe for an interview prior the swimsuit competition. The neo-Orente is used to select the top 6, 3, the final walk (Paulina, Olivia, and Pia's music) the runners-up, and the crowning moment (the rock music used since last year).
2. Hosts can be either from the entertainment world or from the fashion world as long as they treat the show well and not make fun of it.
3. A set of 12 judges should judge the competitions.
4. During the competitions, their scores must be displayed except for the final question and final look.
5. Honorifics must be used since this is a way to show respect to the girls because they also represent not just their countries but also themselves.
6. The crown must be medium-sized and should not need pins in order to keep the crowning moment fast yet glorious.
7. A different stage design must be done each year with a nod to the host country by putting props that are familiar to them.
8. The winner must be selected using the original criteria in which substance is the key and not just your looks in order to make sure her reign will be without controversy that she will create.
9. The crowning assistants can be former Miss Universes from the host country If the host country's Miss Universes are not available, deceased, or if only one winner is available, a former high-placing candidate from the host country can assist. If not available, Miss Teen USA must be willing to assist. If not, a former Miss Universe or Miss USA can assist if they are available to do so. Sometimes, this assisting Miss USA/Universe is also a judge (e.g. Olivia Culpo in the 2015 crowning.)
10. In the opening, contestants must be introduced by continent/region, with the host continent being the last introduced in order to make sure that the host country is introduced last.

Postby muflavanberg » Wed May 17, 2017 12:22 pm

1. preliminary competition followed by National costume show.
2. I want the 15 -10- 5 semifinal format with 1 winner and 4 runner ups and I love the special awards to awarded on stage.
3. I'm not really particular with the stage design as long as it's big enough and not too busy. I want the girls to be the center of attention and not the stage. The stage design and lighting is already working for me.
4. i would like the Miss Universe pageant to be held on the same calendar year of the title (avoiding situations like Miss Universe 2014 being crowned on 2015)
5. parade of nations included in the opening number.
6. try to stage the Miss Universe pageant in different continents every year.
7. as a producer it would be a dream of mine to produce a segment (during the live show) that will pay tribute to past winners. A reunion like what the Oscars did in their 75th edition.

I still have a lot of ideas but for now these are the only things that come to mind. Being a producer is a really tough job specially for something like miss Universe.

2-2.5 hour show (if 66th Miss Universe will be held on NFL season, since FOX will use 1st 30 minutes for overrun) or 3 hour show (if 66th Miss Universe will be held 1 week before NFL Superbowl)
Opening number with opening introduction
Top 15-10-5-3 format or Top 12/13-6-3 format (if we include the fan voting winner)
Chitchat interview (I hope there will be scored this time)
Swimsuit competition only for groups of 2 or 3. (Who will be "masasapawan"?)
Evening Gown competition for individual performance look no groupings (elegance)
Final Question based on issues around the world for Top 5/6
Final Word or common question for either Top 5/6 or Top 3
Final Look

I just want a longer opening dance number featuring all the contestants.

I just want the preliminary scores be shown again.

I just want a continuous announcement of semifinalists and finalists

I want people to host it with such manly speaking voices as those of Bob Goen and Bret Michaels. I want Natalie Morales back because I love the sound of her voice.

I want to bring back that segment where past Miss Universe winners are acknowledged. I want to ensure their attendance so I will shoulder everything. If I were able to produce a Miss Universe show, it can only mean I am that rich, right?

And I want a large venue, a huge stage, a well-lighted and well-decorated stage.

I would get back to basics. Don't complicate things.

1. Opening with each contestant introducing herself.
2. TOP 10 announcement.
3. Introduction of judges.
4. TOP 10 in Swimsuit competition with each contestant walking solo on a long ramp.
5. TOP 10 in Evening Gown competition with each contestant walking solo on a long ramp.
6. TOP 5 announcement.
7. Q&A portion, with judges questions.
8. TOP 3 announcement.
9. Final question portion (same question to all).
10. Crowning.

You don't need anything else. Every segment would be good television and fan-friendly.

Re: How would YOU produce the Miss USA/Miss Universe show?

Postby JoelR » Thu May 18, 2017 12:19 am

I would start with the opening number, I would have all the contestants twerking while introducing themselves. A Miss USA must know how to multi-task.

Next, the swimsuit competition is outdated, I would replace it with a pole dancing/wet t-shirt competition with the help of Rima. The contestants will strut on a pole while wearing their fabulous Chinese Laundry shoes. A Miss USA must be flexible for the last minute changes she would have during her reign.

Next the evening competition, it's also outdated, I would replace it with a beer pong competition. While wearing these beautiful sherry Hill dress. A Miss USA must be able to stay cool, calm and collective during the hardest challenges.

And lastly I would keep the Q&A rounds. With the same question asked each year "why should you win the crown and not the other girls? And final question would be "who of the top 5 would be the worst Miss USA? A Miss USA must always be honest during any interview.

This would be known as the Flawless Era.

Postby ab2 » Thu May 18, 2017 2:03 am

I'm just gonna do one for Miss Universe. Just change the top 20 to a top 15 for USA.

1. 2 hour show
2. Parade of nations for the opening, contestant wearing their national costume for Miss Universe stating their NAME, AGE and COUNTRY just like Miss Universe 2010
3. Opening dance! Also like Miss Universe 2010 plus the reigning Miss Universe also has to be dancing
4. Billy Bush and Giuliana Rancic hosting; at least 8 judges!!! I don't care if they're super famous or not, just have more than 4 please! Also don't care about the commentators.
5. Top 20, 10, 5, 3
6. A 45 sec video intro of the contestant showing their background after being called in the top 20
7. Reigning Miss Universe reflects on her year talking to the hosts, wearing the crown (this is a must!).
8. Top 20 swimsuit competition, upbeat music please! Live is better but not necessary. Show Scores!!!
9. Top 10 announcement with a 30 sec video with the contestant either shooting with Fadil or closeup like Miss Universe 2013, them talking in the background
10. Evening gown competition with Live performance. Show Scores!!!
11. Top 5 announcement with a video showing the top 5 overall performance in the final (natcost, swimsuit, eg)
12. Top 5 interview with 2 personal questions, one social/political issue from the judges
13. Top 3 announcement without video
14. Top 3 final words
15. Top 3 final look. I want long ones like Miss Universe 2015.
16. Outgoing Miss Universe gets another video, then takes her final walk with all of this year's contestants clapping her; wearing the tiara or small version of the crown without the sash.
17. Announcement of Miss Photogenic, Congeniality, and Best National Costume
17. Teen USA places the sash, Outgoing Miss Universe places the bouquet and crown.
18. First walk, this has to be at least 20 seconds.
19. PUBLISH the scores from prelims, interview and finals night AFTER the pageant for God's sake MUO, its not that hard.

Interesting topic. Mine would be:
1. Opening number live from each girl added with the footage of their national costume (2013) in uniform glamorous dresses!
2. Followed by opening dance (2008 and 2010 were the best)
3. Host: Macho male and pretty female (again 2010 was the best combo)
4. Semifinalist: Top 15 + 1 fan vote. After that, the score starts from 0 and will only be given from the judges
5. Top 16: Bikini show, ONE GIRL AT ONE DAMN TIME plus the judges score for the viewers home.
6. Top 10: Evening gown show, classic music.
7. Top 5: Different questions for each girl.
8. Top 3: One question for all
9. Award nights: Miss Congeniality, Miss Photogenic, and Best National costume
10. Tribute to previous titleholder.
11. Winner announcement: Bring back THAT tense music from early 2000's
12. Winner criteria: Physical beauty first. PERIOD. Without ignoring other factors, but Brain, Attitude, and Public Speaking are also IMPORTANT.
13. Stage: Spacious with long runway. Those girls deserve to PERFORM on that stage. Shake, twist, twirl, make it dramatic.

Basically, refer everything back to 2010. That edition was the best, production wise. AND PLEASE MAKE IT SUMMER THEMED VIBE. BEACH, BIKINI, AND BEAUTY!

How would I produced the Miss USA/Miss Universe shows? Just watch any of the pageants from the 1980s, that's how. I would keep the number of semi-finalists to 12.

2010 had the best format. It has a lively opening and awesome music for the swimsuit and evening gown competition. The only thing I will change is for the top 5 to have the same question. Trump era was truly more entertaining.

- 3 hours show
- No more side commenters (bye Ashley)
- 10 judges, all from different continents.
- Girls presenting themselves in an outside parade in the hosting city, wearing National Costumes.
- Live dance on stage for the opening number, girls wearing the same dresses. Opening number to feature traditional aspects of the hosting country.
- Top 16 obviously, each candidate being shortly interviewed by Steve (Miss Universe 2016 format)
- No fan favorite or online voting.
- Video and live interview of the current Miss Universe.
- Live performance for the swimsuit competition with pop entertaining music to feel the excitment and fierceness. Twirls, turns, crazy walks, sexy swimsuits etc...
- All girls wearing the same swimsuits. 1 girl walking at a time.
- Top 10 announcement, 1 minute video for each girl.
- Evening gown competition. Really classy music and background feel. Cultural aspects of the hosting country shall be used.
- Top 5 announcement.
- Awards for National Costume, Congeniality and Photogenic.
- Top 5 final question, asked by judges.
- Top 3 announcement.
- Top 3 identical final question asked by reigning Miss Universe.
- Top 3 final walk, not a live performance.
- Reigning Miss Universe final walk.
- Crowning, and few words from new Miss Universe (Miss Universe 2010 for instance) before her first walk.
-And OBVIOUSLY all scores from the evening posted online.
