Your anxiousness and roar is very well heard but cancellation of Ms. Earth 2013 event is not an option. Personally, I can’t blame you for lack of geographical knowledge of the Philippines assuming you are an American as you claim and also based on the flag you are waving. The most affected areas are in the provinces of Samar and Leyte where lives and property damages are heavily tipped over. Surely, the news about the aftermath of the Super Typhoon Haiyan shocked the whole human race while sympathies and aids are pouring for the victims of the dreadful calamity. That is very heart melting to see the world showing their supports and sympathies. Fortunately, three quarters of the Philippines are spared by HAIYAN so therefore life goes on as normal as much as we could even our hearts are in pain thinking of those compatriots’ suffering as days go by. Now, if we cancel the Ms. Earth 2013 event, what would it achieve? If your point is to show respect to the victims of the typhoon who are mourning due to the lost of their love ones, it would still not solve the problem of the living people. These people need help, not only respect, but also some kind of diversion from their anguish to lift up their morals for them to be productive again. One of the advocacy of Ms. Earth is awareness of our environment. That’s one of the main reason why Ms. Earth pageant is conducted every year to remind the citizen of the world of what to do and not to do to save our Mother Earth. To roar for the cancelation of Ms. Earth pageant would not benefit victims but would possibly forget awareness . Btw, there’s no Ms. Earth 2013 plan of activities that will be held in those two heavily affected provinces (Samar and Leyte).
Just my hard earned 5 cents.
