In my time on this forum I've had many good experiences, but one thing I'm disgusted to see is racism. The one thing that inspired me to post this thread was one member saying:
"(Miss Zambia's) hair ain't made for the crown."
Are you serious? That's just one example that should not be tolerated. There's freedom of speech, but there are also certain words/phrases you don't say. They are referred to as "fighting words". I'm not saying that people can't favor who they want or voice their opinion, but what have we become? I believe the things certain people say overshadow those on here who are experts and truly knowledgeable about pageants.
I'm going to continue in the morning, feel free to respond. Perhaps anyone else has ideas about how we can promote tolerance in our forum?

Yes, there are some offensive comment, but this one is definitely not. Just don't dig a statement too much, every single statement can give thousand meanings, positive or negative, depending on how you see it. Since the poster claims it is not meant for racism, I guess no need to be on fire. Yes, racism is disgusting, but accusing someone innocent is embarassing.

Toma, what you said was wrong. There is a huge connection between black hair and racism. Have you ever heard of "good hair" vs. "bad hair"?
It's a form of racism that started during slavery and still effects American women who are of African descent, as well as black women all over the world. Why? The media has adopted the opinion.
Essentially, bad hair is coarse hair that is considered "nappy" and/or short, while "good hair" is longer with a wavy to straight texture.
Many black women who compete have false hair to fit the part, and when Zambia stepped up and displayed her natural roots, it shocked me that someone would even SAY something like that. Of course the crown would fit her head?! Why shouldn't it? Miss Tanzania '07 had NO hair and wore a crown (and looked stunning doing so).
If you want me to go through the forum and flag all the inappropriate comments of a racist nature that i have encountered on this forum, I will.
And I encourage other people who haven't done so to start. Not just about black women, but about other contestants of different ethnicities.

I agree with you. Racism is so NOT cool and we should just ignore it you know? The racist members are brainless so you better stop wasting time discussing things with them. We should concentrate on the positive things. A lot of members actually appreciate black beauty (I am one of them!!), but you guys don't see it because you concentrate too much on the negative things.
Without black people - the world would be boring as hell. We should have love and respect for each other, because it is such a nice thing to have so many different cultures on earth.
Oh and btw - Toma is such a nice guy and he is DEFINITELY NOT a racist!
