Lately, some of the National Beauty Pageants that are responsible for sending their countries delegate to the Major Beauty Pageants replaced the original representative because of various reasons. In the history of beauty pageants some of the replacements turn out to be the right move. Below are the ladies who replaced the original choices and were successful in the pageant they participated. Miriam QuiambaoAt the conclusion of Binibining Pilipinas 1999, Miriam Quiambao was selected to be the official entry of the Philippines in Miss World. However, a month later, the Physical Therapy graduate was informed to take the responsibilities of Bb. Pilipinas Universe. The original winner Janelle Bautista had to give up her title after BPCI found out that she was not a Filipino citizen. Miriam flew to Trinidad and Tobago, as one of the contender to be the 48th Miss Universe. Even though she fell during the preliminaries that did not stop her to be included in the Top 10. She took advantage of her mishap, which landed her in the final three. Miriam was given the 1st Runner Up position. The highest placement for a Miss Philippines after Gloria Diaz and Margarita Moran. Diana NogueiraDiana Nogueira, a professional model entered the Miss Espana 1999 she finished in 4th place. However, in a twist of fate Diana was appointed to represent Spain in Miss Universe 1999. The appointment was brought about by the top three finisher could not compete in Miss Universe. The winner, Lorena Bernal was only 17 and ineligible to compete. The 1st Runner Up, Carmen Fernández, couldn't go to Miss Universe because her father was seriously sick. And the 2nd runner up, Inma Nadal had to participate in Miss Europe. The decision to send Diana, turned-out to be the best decision the Miss Espana made. The petite beauty queen, went on to bagged the 2nd Runner Up, after she swept the competition in both Swimsuit and Evening gown rounds. Claudia Moreno The Miss Universe Organization did not allow Martina Thorogood to compete in their pageant in 2000 for the reason she was the 1st Runner Up in Miss World 1999 and under contract with rival beauty pageant. Second placer of Norkys Batista was rejected also. This forced the organizer to hold a snap pageant to select Venezuela's candidate for Miss Universe 2000. The pageant was called Miss Republica Bolivariana de Venezuela which composed of previous contestants. One of the contender was Claudia Moreno who managed to enter the Top 10, when she competed in Miss Venezuela 1999 won by Martina Thorogood. Claudia an aspiring dentist, was the lucky returnee as she was declared the winner. Many doubted Claudia's capabilities but she proved that she was worthy of her title. She equate the achievement of Martina Thorogood, and came second in Miss Universe 2000. Eva SisóEva Siso, a runway model represented the province of Lleida in Miss Espana 2001. Eva was a heavy favorite for the title, after she gathered several special awards. Unfortunately she lose to Lorena Van Heerde Ayala and settled in the 1st Runner Up position. Luck was still on Eva's side because Lorena was only 17 years old and not qualified to be a contestant in Miss Universe. Being next on line Eva obtained the right to represent Spain. The Spanish beauty queen was considered one of the frontrunner the moment she set foot in Puerto Rico. However, she was not able to surpass the achievements of the two Miss Spain before her. She still managed to be included in the Semifinals and finish in 6th place overall. Oxana KalandyretsBefore Oxana Federova won Miss Universe 2002, another Oxana made wave in Miss Universe a year earlier. Oxana Kalandyrets, 2nd Runner Up of Oxana Federova took on the role of Miss Russia in Miss Universe 2001. The replacement happened after Oxana Federova declined the invitation of MUO to participate in their pageant in 2001 and decided to focus on her studies. The new bearer of Miss Russia sash did not disappoint her fellowmen, she was one of the elite circle of 10 in Miss Universe 2001.Magdalene WalcottOn March of 2005, Cheryl Ankrah the winner of Miss Trinidad and Tobago Universe was stripped of her title. The organizers cited the decision was put into effect after Cheryl Ankrah did not fullfill her duties as the crown-keeper. As a result a second pageant was held to select the new rep of the twin islands for the Miss Universe 2005 in Bangkok. The eventual winner was the tall and exotic Magdalene Walcott. Miss Walcott was no stranger when it comes to beauty pageant. She competed in Miss World 2003 and placed in the Top 20. Her pageant experience came in handy in Thailand, she advanced in the Top 15 of Miss Universe 2005. Magdalene is considered as one of the best representative from her country. Anna LitvinovaAlla Tretyakova, the runner up of Miss Russia was selected as the official delegate of the European nation in Miss Universe 2006. Few months prior to the kick-off of Miss Universe 2006, Alla tied the knot and was instantly ineligible to take part in the competitor. Alla was replced by Anna Litvinova as the new Miss Russia. Although , not a favorite, the tall blond-hair, blue eyes Anna was considered as a surprise when she was called in the Top 20. Anna provided her country another semifinals finish. Vera KrasovaSeven years after Oxana Kalandyrets replaced Oxana Federova, history repeats itself. In 2008 the 2nd Runner Up in Miss Russia was appointed to represent their country in Miss Universe after the winner decided to focus on her studies, just like what happened in 2001. Vera Krasova stepped into the responsibilties when Ksenia Sukhinova was unable to compete due to her college works. Vera was a hit in Vietnam, she was proclaimed 3rd Runner Up, the best placement for Russia since 2002. Claudia MoroIn 2008, Spain had the same scenario like in 2001 wherein the 1st Runner Up had to be the candidate of the European country because the winner of Miss Espana was underage. The 1st Runner Up of Miss Espana 2008, Claudia Moro flew to Nha Trang, Vietnam for the Miss Universe. The Spanish beauty queen oozing with sex appeal entered the Top 10. Like Eva Siso, Claudia was close in entering the Top 5, she finished 7th overall.Jessica ScheelThe year 2010 was memorable for the Central American country of America. After 26 long years a Miss Guatemala was once again among the semifinalists courtesy of Jessica Scheel. The Guatemalan beauty queen was supposed to represent her country in Miss International but ended up in representing Guatemala in Miss Universe. Jessica was a last minute replacement of Alejandra Barillas who suffered from left leg injury. Jessica glided her way in the Top and finished in 9th place overall. Dina NuraliyevaWhen Miss Kazakhstan 2008 Olga Nikitina could not compete in Miss World for unknown reasons, the franchise holder in Kazakhstan gave Dina Nuraliyeva a second chance. Dina won Miss Kazakhstan in 2005 and became the first-ever delegate of her country in Miss Universe 2006. Dina was not victorious in her quest to be the first from Kazakhstan to reach the semis or wear the crown. So when the opportunity of representing her country once again was offered Dina grab it. She may not placed in any fast-track events, she however was included in the Top 16 and provided a back-to-back placement of her country in Miss World.Irina SharipovaIrina Sharipova entered the Miss Russia 2010 and almost got the title. She was crowned Vice-Miss Russia 2010, the expensive crown went to a lady she shared with the same name Irina Antonenko. Because of the conflict with the schedule, Irina Sharipova had to replace Irina Antonenko as Russia's entry in Miss World 2010. The beautiful Irina Sharipova was able to deliver and included in the Top 25. Virginie DechenaudLike Russia, the country of France decided to send the 1st Runner Up in Miss World 2010. Malika Menard was replaced by her runner up Virginie Dechenaud. The blonde-hair, blue-eyes Virginie did not disappoint the French, she was one of the 25 semifinalists.Viktoria ShchukinaViktoria Shchukina was not the initial choice to be Russia's representative to Miss Earth 2010. Replacing the original representative seems to be the right move because Viktoria was selected one of the fourteen semifinalist among 84 candidates. Little did Viktoria know she will replace another beauty queen. She replaced Jennifer Pazmino of Ecuador who vacated her position as Miss Earth-Air 2010. Viktoria then obtained the highest placement of Russia in Miss Earth. Valentina ZhytnykValentina Zhythnyk had to fill in for Okelsandra Nikitina as Miss Ukraine in Miss Earth 2010. The latter could not participate because of visa problem. Valentina proved the decision of the local organizer was the right move. Valentina was able to get the elusive semifinal spot and became the first Ukrainian to break into the semifinals. Nicole HuberAfter her 16th place stint in Miss World 2011, Nicole Huber next pageant was Miss Earth 2011. Nicole replaced Alexandra Fretes who could not compete because of ankle sprain. The decision to assign a candidate that previously competed in another major beauty pageant, seem to be a formula that always work for Paraguay. Nicole became the 4th Miss Paraguay to place in Miss Earth after Yanina Gonzales, Tania María Domanickzy Vargas, and Gabriela Rejala. If I miss and put wrong information, don't hesitate to share it and correct it
