With Miss Earth containing all the rudiments of a beauty pageant, one thing remains its most prized quality: its real and relevant cause, which is fighting and caring for the environment. Not a lot of people probably know the extent of environmental work done by the organization, and the extent of linkages it has fostered. Over the years, the MEO has worked with no less than the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), Greenpeace, The Climate Reality Project, and of course, the United Nations. In fact, the Miss Earth Queen also becomes a spokesperson for the United Nations Environment Programme. Miss Earth 2013 Alyz Henrich for example, attended and spoke at the United Nations Youth Conference on Environment and Biodiversity in Egypt.
Speaking of the Miss Earth, every Miss Earth queen has always been at the forefront of the organization’s cause. That is why being a Miss Earth is not an easy feat, as attested by the past queens. But not only do the queens give a lot for the crown, the crown has already been proven to be a real life changer for them. It turns them not only into celebrities in their own right, but also into lifelong advocates. And during her reign, a Miss Earth becomes one of the most, if not the most, well-traveled beauty queens in the pageant world.
