Miss Earth at 18 Issue #5: 18 YEARS AND NOT COUNTING?

Postby ajsy0203 » Tue Jun 26, 2018 12:02 pm

With current issues surrounding Miss Earth, some say that this can cause the pageant’s downfall, with some saying that it has lost its place as one of the top pageants in the world. But if we will look at all the developments ME has undergone through the years, we will realize that pageant’s reign has actually only begun.

Firstly, the pageant has gone from just around 40 candidates in 2001 to being one of the biggest in terms of participation, with 85 delegates in 2017, coming in third from Miss World’s 118 and Miss Universe’s 92. This year, 7 countries are reportedly returning to the pageant, and with Saint Kitts and Nevis making its debut.

Secondly, the crowning and franchise switches and ditches are actually a welcome development, considering that before, Miss Earth was not even a part of some local crowns, with many candidates coming in as appointed. But that has since changed. In recent years, many national pageants have not only included Miss Earth in their major crowns, but more countries are even holding separate and even televised local Miss Earth pageants, with no less than pageant-crazy Venezuela and Mexico recently joining the fray. Moreover, Miss Earth is among the most broadcasted pageants in the world, with TV and cable networks broadcasting the pageant either live or delayed, proving its capability to draw audience and rake in advertisement revenue. It does not simply rely on social media streams. Just last year, Latin American Cable Network Globovision has been added to the roster of Miss Earth’s broadcasters, which already includes Fox Life (formerly Starworld) in Asia and Dish Satellite TV in the United States.

Thirdly, Miss Earth’s production quality has seen major world class imporvements, with the 2017 edition touted as one of the best pageant productions last year. Miss Earth has also introduced its own distinct segments which made headlines, proving the relevance and power of the pageant to create discussions.

All these are but signs that the pageant is neither biting the dust nor slowing down anytime soon, and that it does not have to haggle for a spot to stay afloat.

Why Carousel and Miss Earth pageant was able to survive for 18 years?

The MISS EARTH Pageant is an International Environmental Event channeling the beauty pageant entertainment industry as an effective tool to promote environmental awareness.

Because many people admire and aspire to be a beauty queen, Carousel Productions, Inc. believed beauty queens would be a good and effective advocate of worthy causes. To give life to this vision, Carousel Productions Inc. organized and launched in 2001 the MISS EARTH Beauty Pageant, a beauty event whose raison d'etre was to have its candidates and winners actively promote and get involved in the preservation of the environment and the protection of Mother Earth.

Apart from a strong emphasis on environmental protection programs, MISS EARTH also aims to showcase and promote various tourist destinations. Every year, 80 to 90 candidates from all over the world compete on beauty and knowledge of environmental issues.

The winner of MISS EARTH will serve as the Ambassador to environmental protection campaigns worldwide.

Now on it's 17th year, MISS EARTH continues to build its reputation as the most relevant and worthwhile beauty event in the world, setting a legacy of beauty and responsibility.

"BEAUTIES FOR A CAUSE"

The pageant is a search for the most beautiful women of the Earth to serve as a role model dedicated to uphold the advocacy to preserve and restore Mother Earth.

The year were the winner was the weakest facially, but like Karen, she was brainy.

2002 Winner from BOSNIA = Džejla Glavović <:-P
Image

The worst winner, IMO. A bitch and lazy. This batch has one of the weakest winners too.

2003 Winner from HONDURAS = Dania Prince <:-P
Image

I loved her since Day 1. Great set of winners. Walang patapon.

2004 Winner from BRAZIL = Priscilla Meirelles <:-P
Image

All beautiful!!! :hx This is one of editions wherein I prefer the runners up over the winner though.

2005 Winner from VENEZUELA = Alexandra Braun <:-P
Image

One of the ugliest winnerS of ME. I don't know why they love this woman. I prefer the mulatta over her; PHYSICAL BEAUTY ALONE. Although she was said to be the kindest and one of the most hardworking ME.

2006 Winner from CHILE = Hil Hernández <:-P
Image

This edition was the only time I was torn between two great ladies: India and Chile. Although I was more on India over Chile... I was never a fan of Miss Venezuela. Looks pornish to me. And I was proven right when she ran into the football field naked like a prostit*te/nympho who needs to be fucked by gazillion men. Well, MVO had this controversy... This was also the time wherein Untalan ruined the set of winners based on physical beauty alone.

2007 Winner from CANADA = Jessica Trisko <:-P
Image

This was the only pageant that I watched wholly because I was doing nothing at that time. I knew she was going to win since she was a performer and brainy. It was a time where I wish she was cut earlier, but you know she's getting int the top 4. Don't get me wrong, I find her beautiful, but not in the league of her runners up except for that Indian creature.

2008 Winner from PHILIPPINES = Karla Henry <:-P
Image

Same with Trisko. I knew she was going to win if she enters the Top 4 since she's very eloquent aside from being a performer. It was a time where I wish she was cut earlier, but you know she's getting int the top 4. Facially not bad, but the runners up are gorgeous especially Tanzania who ruined her chances buy being BOBA.

2009 Winner from BRAZIL = Larissa Ramos <:-P
Image

I never liked the winner, but acceptable. Physically, i would have preferred Venezuela or Spain - who were good in the Q&A.She was never impressive in the Q&A and is also a bitch. Just look at how she looks at her interpreter. This batch has a lot of beautiful ladies too. Performance-wise: PHILIPPINES.

2010 Winner from INDIA = Nicole Faria <:-P
Image

I WENT GAGA OVER BECAUSE OF NICOLE FARIA. So far, she's the most beautiful winner of ME. I love the winners except PR who looked like a man. >:<

2011 Winner from ECUADOR = Olga Álava <:-P
Image

Anybody who looked like a Filipina will always have a soft spot in my heart. She totally owned the night with Miss Philippines fighting tooth and nail, performance-wise. Same with Karla, I wanted Athena out early in the competition since she was a total performer and very eloquent. Her physical beauty is not conventional or white thus my apprehension. But she's prettier than Untalan.

2012 Winner from CZECH REPUBLIC = Tereza Fajksová <:-P
Image

This is where beauty only reigned. And idiot winner, but facially stunning. One of the best set of winners. All of them are beautiful with Stefany the weakest. If she was styled like her facial look in ME 2013, she would have been divine.

2013 Winner from VENEZUELA = Alyz Henrich <:-P
Image

I was rooting for Austria or Korea, but I know that Venezuela will kill the runaway. I was right. Beautiful set of winners! Although we were told that MV was lazy. I don't know why didn't they fire her???

2014 Winner from PHILIPPINES = Jamie Herrell <:-P
Image

I knew she was going to win. Aced all rounds with weak batchmates. Ven and USA were fucking ugly!!! ~X(

2015 Winner from PHILIPPINES = Angelia Ong <:-P
Image

Same with Henry. I knew she was going to ace every round. But she's lovelier than Henry. I wanted MEO to sacrifice her like Sandra, but the judges chose her. Miss USA is ugly!!! =O/

2016 Winner from ECUADOR = Katherine Espín <:-P
Image

She was a performer, but fat. If only Imelda was kinder and Ong was not the previous winner, she could have given this plain woman a fight. Not a fan of the Top 4, but facially, I like Miss Brazil - who became a bitch afterwards. I did not get the hype about that manly Venezuela. One of the weakest batch- face-wise.

2017 Winner from PHILIPPINES = Karen Ibasco <:-P
Image

She's physically worse than Henry. But just like Ong and Henry, she was a performer and very eloquent aside from being confident on stage. I knew that if she enters the top 4, they might make her win. ~X( Australia or Russia would have been a safer choice since they answered their question well. I never got the hype over Colombia. I find her ugly! =/ She looks like a skeleton.

Miss Earth has its winners from DIFFERENT COUNTRIES for the last 17 years, so i don't understand why some people here are accusing the pageant for being rigid and a cooking show. Also, as you can see from the photos. Majority of the winners are all stunningly beautiful.... SO WHAT IS THE ISSUE...? :-O :-O :-O :-O :-O :-O
SOME PEOPLE ARE LESBIAN, GAY,
BISEXUAL, TRANSGENDER... GET OVER IT.

WHEN KARLA WON IN 2008 EVERY BASHERS SAID IT IS THE DEMISE OF MISS EARTH, WELL TEN YEARS LATER IT IS STILL GOING ON AND MAINTAINING THE 80 PLUS NUMBERS

WHEN ANGELIA DID A BACK TO BACK FEAT, BASHERS SAID IT AGAIN, AND ONCE AGAIN THEY ARE PROVEN WRONG

LOOKS LIKE THIRD TIME IS NOT A CHARM FOR BASHERS

I HAVE 02 SUGGESTIONS TO MISS EARTH ORGANIZATION :

1. Choose a winner who possesses a beautiful face which can be accepted internationally.
2. Have a decency not to crown your own country candidate, wait at least 10 years before doing so.

I THANK YOU... =;)) =;)) =;)) =;)) =;)) =;)) =;)) =;)) =;)) =;)) =;)) =;)) =;)) >:) >:) >:)
