Should MEO accept petite candidates for Miss Earth 2018?

If you were the pageant organizer, what is the minimum height requirement for Miss Earth?

Should MEO accept petite candidates for Miss Earth 2018?

Postby ajsy0203 » Sun Oct 22, 2017 12:19 pm

At the height of the controversy surrounding the problematic height requirement of Miss South Africa, do you think Carousel and MEO should accept petite contestants (5 feet to 5 feet 4 inches) starting in the 18th edition of the pageant?

Note: Successful qualified "petite" contestants (under 5 feet 7 inches) who made it to the top 16 recently were Athena Imperial of the Philippines in 2011 and Skye Celine Baker of Guam in 2015.

The existing rules should stay and get implemented without exception to anyone.

Imagine the backlash should MEO/Carousel decide to revise the terms of agreement or implementing rules and guidelines. Foreign audiences, even the local followers will inundate the organisation with something like, "oh, that's being done to favor the Filipina" because our women unfortunately are not genetically gifted with a towering height. The worst is bound to ensue if that is done and would make MEO/Carousel defensive in all fronts.

Why open up avenues that breed the occurrence of vicious attacks, why create an army of haters if something like that can be neutralized beforehand?

At the end of the day Miss Earth is a beauty contest and there are just standards to be upheld. If they amend the rules and allow short people to join then they should also allow fat people, ugly people, extremely dumb people, old people and even men to join.

I concur. Rules are rules. If 5'5" is the minimum height, then so be it. 5'5" cannot be 5'4" or 5'4½". Period. Why start something that can only open a can of worms?

Isa na namang tanong na mukhang ewan. Pati ung note mo boy, paki-ayos... Para lang maisingit mo yung petite na sina Skye at Athena, ginawa mong basis "less than 5'7"... Anung connect? The truth still remains they have passed the 5'5" height requirement.

Rubbish question. Again and again.

I used the term under 5 feet 7 inches petite girls when ANTM opened the petite girls only cycle in cycle 13. In the modelling world the reported minimum height was 5 feet 7 inches. Of course both Athena and Skye broke the barriers about the height deficiency despite some tirades by some of the fans.

I posted before about 5'7" issue:

Petites should not be disqualified, but they will never be chosen as semifinalists. Never ever!
That’s a given.
