We've been given the opportunity to have a voice. The platform to raise awareness of the issues facing our environment.
I had an absolutely amazing time at the Miss Earth Australia national finals! I made it to the top 8 and am so grateful to have been involved with a pageant which embodies such a positive message. We've been spoilt by the staff at the Holiday Inn Potts Point, completed an intense HIIT session at F45, learnt about sustainable nutrition, taken the rather windy manly ferry, been spoilt for choice with Budgy Smugglers swimwear, killed our feet with what we thought were comfortable high heels, worked with talented makeup artists, walked the runway at the National Model Conference in beautiful Eco Diva caftans and met intelligent, like-minded, passionate women. I know that each one of these eco-warriors will continue their inspiring work.
Congratulations to our new Miss Earth Australia, Lyndl Kean! I have no doubt that you will do the Miss Earth organisation proud with your environmental work over the next year and beyond. I can't wait to see the wonderful work that you and our elemental queens, Roanne Rose Lombard and Laura Smolej will do!
Laura, my ridiculously similar Tasmanian roomie. I'm so proud of you!
To our outgoing Miss Earth Australia, Dayanna Grageda. You embody everything that the organisation stands for and this is just the beginning for you. I've seen how much you have grown even in the 2 years that I have known you, and I have no doubt that you, and our 2015 elemental queens, will continue to inspire environmental change.
There are so many people that I want to thank! Our director, Kelly Louise Maguire, for giving me the opportunity to be a national finalist. The hard work that you and Paul do behind the scenes and dedication to the positive message of Miss Earth is a true testament to you both.
My sponsors, Hennesy Lane Hair, Temple Body and Soul and the Louise Love brand (by Alannah Hill) for their generosity!
Our panel of judges for giving me the chance to be a part of the top 8 and to speak about economically viable sustainable living.
Our friendship award winner, Ella Jones. You're an inspiring woman with a kick-arse sense of humour. Never change.
The absolute biggest of 'thank yous' to my incredibly supportive friends and family. I feel so humbled to have such wonderful people in my life and cannot express just how grateful I am. Lastly, to my mum, Kate, for flying up from Melbourne for the night to watch the finals - I love you. You really are the best friend and mum that I could have asked for.
After such a big weekend, it's time for some much-needed sleep. See you all next year!
