GULF COAST PA MORE
One of my faves to win the tile. She has very interesting beauty and very passionate!
A peek into marsh replanting I edited together from some of @mikebodiford’s awesome footage! Thank you for donating your time to help me share one of my favorite restoration actives with the world. Thank you again to all the volunteers for coming out with such enthusiasm and work ethic and to the @gbayfoundation for helping to make this day possible and to @samikhaleeq for feeding us after a hard day’s work!
Happy Monday! I’m still reflecting on all the love and support and effort demonstrated at my Think Global Act Local Marsh Replanting event his weekend. We planted 300-375 marsh plants that will multiply and grow into thick marsh land to protect against erosion, provide a habitat for marine life, and support a healthy ecosystem
Volunteers, y’all are rockstars. I can’t explain how much it meant to have a big group of friends (and like-minded strangers) who aren’t afraid to get a little dirty for the sake of restoration efforts. Even some friends who admittedly showed up just to support me ended up enjoying the process and are ready to get out there again! Thank you for all your hard work. Sponsors, thank you for making this weekend possible.
Our nutrition podcast Fueling Your Potential is LIVE! My most bubbly, shiny friend and cohost @adrienpaczosa and I are kicking things off with some @sxsw survival minisodes (6 minutes or less, easy listens). We talk about nutrition as is relates to living life at your highest potential. WHAT a perfect week, with all the events in Austin, to start making the most of life with our nutrition tips in your toolbox. Thank you to @foundingmedia (an offshoot of @foundingaustin magazine) for helping to bring this vision to life. Link in bio!
Today is #nationaldressday so I’m throwing it back to, indisputably, the most special dress I have ever worn! This couture masterpiece of a wedding dress was made 100% of live botanicals by the amazing @caroljillian and perfectly married my appreciation of fashion and nature.
Update: Not retiring from pageants this year!
I’ll be competing at Miss Earth USA as Miss Gulf Coast Earth on the platform of coastal preservation
I really hadn’t been exposed to pageants until this past year and I fell in love with the process. They serve as an opportunity for self reflection and personal growth. You forge a better, more confident version of yourself, which makes you a stronger agent for others. Being guided by a platform trains you to be intentional and outspoken about the things that matter to you. This past year, I’ve had the opportunity to mentor and impact young women in their relationship with food and their bodies and now I have the opportunity to speak for a cause that directly affects the environment, economy, and wellbeing of my family’s community.
I was so sad to have aged out of the USA system the same year I found it, but grateful for what a strong foundation it provided, the support system I gained, and the lessons I learned. It seems like fate that the Miss Earth Organization raised their age limit by one year, allowing me to make use of those lessons and compete one more time! The more I learn about the Earth system, the more I love it! It is focused on service and organized in a way that encourages volunteerism and ambassadorship. I am so excited to meet the 2019 class of strong, cause-driven women at nationals in Las Vegas at the end of June. In the meantime, I’ll be hard at work for my gulf coast community. If you want to help, check the dates below to come volunteer with me in Galveston and stay tuned for details about a community service event I’ll be organizing in June.
