I salute Miss World as they are truly serious in helping many people and charities. Despite of many of us hating Miss World, we should appreciate their efforts because beyond the glitz and glam, they are dedicated to help and make a real difference in the world. Alongside Miss Earth, I think these two pageants are indeed true to their mission vision.
Sad, our gorgeous Katarina failed to place.
To Miss World Philippines, I think you should plan early for your Miss World Philippines pageant and do it earlier. Both Alyssa and Katarina had only little time to prepare. And it had impacted to their unplacement. If they really want another Miss World winner, they should choose a queen with a legit advocacy.
Forget about beauty as long as she’s presentable. Look at Miss Thailand, she wasn’t the prettiest yet she was shining because of her advocacy. I think the BWAP of our candidate should have been established already many months before the MW finals, so that it can grow and flourish more.
Don’t do a BWAP just because you just need to present one. Do it because you are passionate. I felt nowadays, their preparations are forced and rushed.
Sad that other beautiful queens like France and Nepal were axed after top 12. Just when we all expected France or Nepal to win, still Julia surprised us. From Head to Head, Mexico was already winning many people. She was powerful with her speech. Last night I already messaged my friends that it is between France Nepal Mexico. And Mexico won in fact.
So instead of making a Miss Universe-like pageant format, I hope Miss World Philippines will follow how Miss World is selecting their winner. Remove the Swimsuit competition, but focus on their substance, their advocacies and charities, find someone who is talented, and make a version of head to head challenge.
It’s about time for Miss World Philippines to regroup, and step up. I think they are biting more than they could chew by having too many minor titles like Eco, Reina and Multinational. Because they wanted to please all 4 pageant organizers, their winners are the one suffering. Yes, last year they produced 3 minor International winners and we are happy about it. But Miss World is different. Miss World is in the Top 2 Pageants of the world alongside Miss Universe. So might as well focus and prepare our girls well. Stop promising the owners of these pageants that Philippines will host their pageants if they will let us win. Wrong!
Spain in 2015, India in 2017, South Africa in 2014, Venezuela in 2011 never promised anything BUT they sent a well prepared representative who were equipped with beauty, with purpose and with that winning will to make a difference.
It’s about time to step out of that old pageant mentality. It’s now high time to work, make things happen and refrain from being complacent and relying simply on the PHILIPPINE sash. Winning takes hard work, drive, passion and dedication.
And to the Filipino fans, please be classy. How many times Venezuela failed to place yet wasn’t ranting like losers. Instead, be resilient. Not every year can be our lucky year. From time to time, it is just fine to take a slice of that humble pie. It will all make us grow and be more appreciative of our wins.
