It was Manushi's solo trip without the rest of the MW team and Brazil welcomed her with unmatched enthusiasm and love. She met with a lot of dignitaries in every city she went to with plans of helping the people. Fashion industry, media, even the Parliament of Brazil embraced and supported her in all her endeavors.
Some of the highlights from the trip are as follows-
Manushi kick started the trip in São Paulo , where she met the First Lady in São Paulo in support of the Government's plan to help poor in the upcoming Winter in Brazil. Her first donation being a sweater marks the beginning of this initiative. First lady praised her efforts to help women with Feminine Hygiene.
Then she made some appearances in the media with Mister Brazil Carlos Franco and made a quick trip to the São Paulo market.
Manushi's interview in Brazil was aired on Record TV´s “Domingo Espetacular”. Record TV is the 2nd most watched television channel in Brazil and her interview was aired the following Sunday night, at prime time. The interview reached some amazing 15 points audience, which means about 22 million Brazilians watched Miss World´s interview on tv.
Then she visited APAE in Brasília. They work on the principle of inclusion of people with Down Syndrome to help them learn, grow and fend for themselves. She danced and played drums with the students.
Then she met the governor at Brasilia to put forward requests from APAE who need the government’s help to expand and support more people with special needs .On learning that she is a medical student governor invited her to visit the Children's Hospital of Brasilia, José de Alencar, to see the wonderful institution and to support it as well.
Then she visited the botanical garden in Brasilia and planted trees along with the students of APAE to promote environment protection.
She was then honoured by the lower house of the Brazilian National Congress (the Parliament of Brazil) Congressman Pinto praised Manushi for her global Humanitarian work. Then she was Invited by the Indian Embassy in Brazil for Dinner to express their pride for her genuine efforts.
She then met with the Senator Alvaro Dias to promote the inclusion of people with Down syndrome in the labor market.
Then Manushi took to the ramp with a student of APAE at the charity gala dinner. She wore a dress by a Brazilian designer which will be auctioned to raise money for people with special needs through APAE.
People from fashion industry invited Manushi to extend their support to the fight against leprosy.
Next she arrived in Belém and met the Mayor, Zenaldo Coutinho, then took to the streets of Para with her Miss World Brazil sisters to attract awareness towards leprosy. She also met with the governor of with request of increasing accessibility to areas specially schools for spreading awareness on leprosy. Later she visited a health centre in Belém.
Next she headed to Amazon, to reach out to the isolated communities along the Amazon river, she was welcomed at the primary center of treatment for leprosy with lots of love and enthusiasm and was greeted by a leprosy survivors.
