Hundreds benefit from Miss World Guyana’s Diabetic Centre & Fitness Park!
It launched at Diamond New Housing Scheme, East Bank, Demerara on Sunday 10th September
Miss World Guyana 2017, Vena Mookram, announced the great news at a presentation on Monday 4th September. DeSinco Trading is dedicated to providing financial support to Vena’s Beauty With A Purpose Project and both Vena and DeSinco are so happy about their collaboration. Vena presented her Beauty With A Purpose objectives at the gathering:
“The Miss World Pageant is not just a beauty pageant, it is a pageant of purpose. All of the contestants are asked to take up a social cause and try their very best to intervene and come up with a solution to reduce this problem. I have decided to undertake the Beauty with a Purpose project of Diabetes Prevention through diet and exercise.”
Presenting a cheque on the company’s behalf was DeSinco’s Marketing Manager, Mark Kendall. He states: “Diabetes is a very chronic condition in Guyana. The more we are educated and focus on this platform, the more aware we will be of what diabetes really is. Your (Vena’s) contribution is definitely significant at this time.” Mark wished Vena well on representing Guyana on the international stage: “I know you have been doing a lot of work and your platform tells a lot.”
The Diabetes Association of Guyana operate the Diabetic centre on a weekly schedule. It educates the local population on diabetes prevention and patients with diabetes can be monitored. The Fitness Park is open to the public too.

Vena’s Beauty With A Purpose Project is being promoted well in Guyana. On Thursday 7th September, Vena and eight cricket teams of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club collaborated to host a massive Diabetes and Health Fair. Hundreds of residents from Rose Hall Town and and its surrounding villages benefited.
Vena offered comfort and advice to the residents and spoke informatively about diabetes. She shared her delight in being able to assist hundreds of residents to get access to free and high standard Medical Care. Ms. Rhonda Trim of the Ministry of Health, Berbice praised Ms. Mookram on the outstanding work she is doing to extend the lives of the Guyanese. Moreover, Rose Hall Town Sports Club Secretary/CEO, Hilbert Foster, said the cricket club was “pleased to work alongside Ms. World Guyana to promote her personal platform of a healthy lifestyle. The Mayor of Rose Town Hall, Vijay Ramoo, was very grateful to Vena and the Cricket Club for choosing Rose Town Hall to host such a beneficial health fair.
