Flashback: Remember Miss World 2002 supposed to break 100 contestants but because of a religious controversy from the host country, some of the girls decided to boycott the pageant at the expense of breaching the franchise contract from the franchise holders. Few weeks into the pageant, the riots in Nigeria happened and the pageant moved out of Nigeria and returned to London, England. Some of the boycotted contestants decided to return to the pageant. This was the last time that the pageant will fall below 90 contestant mark as the following year broke the 100 contestant mark.
Now with the controversy surrounding the coronation of Stephanie Del Valle of Puerto Rico as Miss World 2016, the alleged results rigging from the national director of Miss Indonesia pageant & Miss World 1975 which happened to be the daughter of national director of MW Puerto Rico and the resignations of 3 current national directors from Philippines, Spain (both countries already have their new national directors after the resignation of the past national directors), and Malaysia (pending for the possible new ND or might withdraw). Will Miss World 2017 hit below 100 contestants since 2002 or below 110 contestants since 2008?
