Miss America 2006 was postponed indeed... but it was postponed from Sept 05 to Jan 06...which means Miss America 2006 was still elected in 2006.
This an epic fail for the Miss Universe Organization to crown a 2014 winner in 2015.

I can't imagine this latin domination!! And here we are all waiting for someone different to be crowned. *sigh*
True, but in latin countries a different winner always emerges. 2004 Australia, 2007 Japan, 2011 Angola.
I had a Brazilian patient and I asked her so you are Latino like me and she replied ugh Brazilians are not latinos... I was laughing inside...
Bottom line I really want a different winner this year someone the total opposite of Molly and probably an European or a beautiful black. This reign was so boring and we were stuck with it for so long. Even Nia would be a refreshing change.
We consider ourselves Latino-American, just like Haitians are (Spain, France, Portugal, Italy and Romania are Latin countries). But of course we are not hispanic-americans, and in the USA, for a lot of ppl, latino-american and hispanic-american are the same thing, which, in fact, aren´t
Even Filipinos consider themselves as Latinos according to them. LOL

THEY HAVE NOT JUST KNIWN ABOUT THE NEED FOR A PAGEANT ON 2014 for over a year...they have known it for over 60 years. Add they couldn't do it. I mean, it's not like they spend the year find raising for charity or something, which might at least have redeemed them somewhat.
And then, on top of that, all this delay, this absolute failure to find a host and they hold it in DORAL????? Seriously???
This is a MAJOR, MAJOR failure, and it can be packaged in any way, but the fact remains,.....I think is will undoubtedly do irreparable damage to e Miss Universe brand.
Finally....the fact that the only money that is being paid is an investment if $2.5 million, which has been promised to be reimbursed by sponsors pretty much should put to bed all those tall claims that MUO commands tens of millions in hosting fees.

I suspect the decision to move MU14 to January was made based on Miss World taking place in December and that would have created a several logistical issues for some contestants, causing national directors to perhaps share their concerns with the MUO.
I'm happy with this decision. I don't see the downside.

although i'm not surprised, this happened. as a long time miss universe pageant fan, i feel extremely hurt and disrespected.
miss universe was a part of my childhood. i looked forward to the yearly pageant every 3rd week of may. it was a very nice end to the summer holiday in the philippines.
but even when miss universe was not reportedly making money pre-trump era, they managed to have a yearly pageant every may. that's because the company values and mission were not to make money but to stage an international event. it showcased culture, tradition, and beautiful women proudly representing their home country. there was pride.
ever since trump took over as co-owner, everything has turned for the worse. this happens when you consider a tradition as a milking cow for money. i understand he is a business man but he shouldn't expect to make money out of a well respected international event.
since trump bought miss universe, it's lost its class and prestige. even ex-miss universe winners agree. i think it was barbara palacios teyde and denise quinoñes who even said it during the height of that fiasco called miss latina universe.
what has trump given us as miss universe co-owner?
1. made the pageant dumber by introducing those classless events (uhm selling lemonade wearing a two-piece bikini? buffalo wings eating contest anyone?)
2. treated candidates as sex objects (uhm that lingerie photoshoot in 2012 was just the lowest and tackiest. it was disgusting)
3. removed the televised scores so he could manipulate the top 15-16 by removing some candidates and including his choices
4. as a result, lot more accomplished and educated women stopped competing (there used to be lawyers, accountants, doctors. now it's all just selfie craved over baked, silicone girls who all want to be victoria secret models.)
5. in recent years, no assurance of a yearly pageant (to think he charges each host country $18M)
this is the reason why the 2014 edition is going to be held in jan 2015. because he wants to make money and not spend it. he doesn't t care what month or year it will be staged as long as he can collect the franchise fee and he avoids spending out of his own pocket.
this is just so disrespectful to the millions of miss universe fans especially to those who remember the glamorous editions of the 70s, 80s, and early 90's.
such a great loss. mr trump please sell the miss universe pageant to someone who cares. stop milking it. you have other businesses. concentrate on your hotels and casinos instead.
