Pia Wurtzbach still has tons of endorsements up to now. Non-winners like Ariella Arida, Maxine Medina and MJ Lastimosa and even her own batchmate, runner-up Samantha Bernardo are way more popular in Philippine showbiz today.
What happened to the huge hype?

If you are really observant, you should've known that prior to Cat's arrival in South Africa, she was in Kenya for humanitarian activities including Operation Smile Train.
And we all know that Operation Smile Train is one of the activities of Miss Universe. Aren't you even wondering why she was still involved in that activity 3 years after her reign? While scrolling on IG I see from time to time her modeling gigs, appearances, and hosting activities. She even had to leave South Africa way ahead of the others due to other commitments hence she was not included in the spur of the moment photoshoot where they all wear white.
Based on what I've observed, Catriona is still very much relevant and active in gigs that are normally not covered by mainstream media. Remember that Pia revealed in an interview that there are a lot of activities of a Miss Universe that are not covered by media because she was also questioned by toxic pageant fans on why she was not that visible as a Miss Universe during her reign. Instead of questioning, we should be glad that Catriona is still very much involved even after her reign. And no doubt her advocacies for the children of Tondo and Love Yourself are still very much alive.
I believe this is the sentiment of other pageant fans that claim that Catriona is really the Miss World type of beauty queen.
Just because the other beauty queens are visible in mainstream media and social media platforms does not translate to success. Why don't you take time and research those beauty queens, local and international, and look at how they are doing. Some may prove your point but some may prove mine.
A beauty queen's success does not rely on how well she is doing in show business, but on being successful in what and where she is good at.

Beacuse those labels were bestowed upon her by her fellow countrymen. She is in the top five of all time Miss Universes but the best mehhh she barely did anything during her stint in the USA

CAT is even busier than the current Miss Universe and Miss World combined.
And in the last 12 months: she has traveled to more countries than any of Andrea or peasant Toni.
Since the last 12 months, Cat traveled to Colombia, Mauritius, Kenya, South Africa and some more visits in other African countries. (does not include her vacation in Australia).
But yeah, PIA too is even busier than any of them.

And now, Miss Hong Kong doesn't even have the Miss World franchise anymore, and there were times that the winner of that pageant wasn't even sent due to literally anything. One example is in 2011 in which the winner of the 2011 pageant wanted to go to acting so her first runner-up went to Miss World instead. The thread starter needs to understand that these pageants aren't automatic spots for the showbiz industry and there are winners that choose to do their own advocacies even if it means that they aren't as famous as the other winners. Plus, given the problems of fame, these winners' choices should be respected given that in some cases, their personal life is already being invaded in a bad way.ajsy0203 wrote:Geeyourhair wrote:I will be channeling an asjy here...

Maybe TS is thinking that Bb. Pilipinas or MUP is like Miss Hong Kong that is you win the national title or just being a finalist you can enter in the world of showbiz right away but it is not, in most recent editions due to intense training from the different pageant camps in order to prepare for the international competition.

Yup, which I was just talking about. What Julia expects for these qualifier pageants is that they send the winner to Miss World occasionally. Unfortunately, the Miss Hong Kong pageant has been failing to do that in its most recent years (the last time that the Miss Hong Kong organizers even sent a contestant was 2017, and that was just the second runner-up).ajsy0203 wrote:Mariana Erwin wrote:And now, Miss Hong Kong doesn't even have the Miss World franchise anymore, and there were times that the winner of that pageant wasn't even sent due to literally anything. Miss Hong Kong 2011 Rebecca Zhu declined to compete at Miss World twice because she was very secured as an actress which is she still active rather than become an international beauty queen despite MWO forced almost all the national directors to send the winner not the runner-up in their national pageant (at that time until possibly changed recently due to an legal issue in 2018 surrounding MVO & Miss Venezuela World 2017-18).

I hope that the thread starter realizes that popularity doesn't just mean her being an actress or a singer (although Catriona is a singer and song-writer), but at the same time, it also means that your advocacies are also being showcased around the world, especially for their relevancy and the ways that these advocacies address the issue of people dealing with problems, such as children and people in poverty. Plus, it is much better if these works are kept lowkey given that over-showing them is a problem as well.
