Maria and Fashai would had won Miss Universe if there was no final Q&A?

Postby ajsy0203 » Sat Apr 25, 2020 6:38 am

Do you think Maria Poonlertlarp and Paweensuda "Fashai" Drouin would had won Miss Universe 2017 and 2019 over Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters and Zozibini Tunzi if there was no final question round just like Miss Universe 1988 where Porntip Nakhirunkanok won the pageant without having to ask the final question at the finals?

Note: In 1982-1983, 1986-1989, all five finalists did not undergo the final question thru sound-proof booth or drawing a card contained the questions from the fishbowl. Instead the five finalists were ranked by the judges during the final judging, possible due to time constraint for the 2 hour telecast of the pageant.

Doesn’t make sense since both did not advance to the final question round.
Everything is so finite. But don't you think that that's what makes our time, at specific moments, so important?

A big NO! The judges clearly prefered the other girls in the top 5 or 6 aside from Demi and Tunzi like Colombia in 2016 and Davina Bennet from Jamaica who had the confidence, strong presence and the winning aura that Maria lacked. Tunzi and Demi were too strong and were the clear winners even before the final rounds. Fahsai's styling made her look messy with so much going on especially that wavy curls and the embelishments on the top part of her gown which also did not help her to look statuesque but instead made her body look even bigger. Iceland and evwn USA actually deserved that final spot instead of her. There were other semi finalists more deserving to be a finalist. They were scored too high in the swimsuit rounds even though they have the worst swimsuit figures. The popularity of Miss Universe among the Indonesians and the Thais are a big factor why their delegates made the cut but unlike the Philippine delegates, the ladies from Indonesia, Thailand and even Vietnam did not live up to the hype. Maria and Fahsai did not have the same fierceness and fighting spirits of the Filipinas. They faltered during crunch time. Fahsai being a native English speaker and Canadian University educated even asked for a standby interpreter incase the Miss Earth scenario happens again. that strategy to give her extra time to think while it is being translated to Thai if she did not understand the question clearly showed a lack of confidenece...while Maria...Oh well, this lady was simply clueless. So No! Miss Millenial and Miss Social movement did not deserve to win, with or without the final Q&A.

Maria and Fashai can't duplicated Apasula and Porntip's successful feat even if there was no final question?

Not a chance in hell they would. Demi-Leigh was as obvious of a winner as Paulina from the moment she arrived in Las Vegas (and even before thanks to social media). Her platform, confidence and personality could not be defeated that year.

As for Fashai, she was bland, a Catriona copycat and generic. Another one who came with hundreds of bags full of designer clothes but couldn't keep it together when the time was right. She had no business being in the top 5 anyway.
Zozi got the Miss Universe crown the minute she opened her mouth during the top 20 speech. Really only Sofia could upset her in the question/speech round but Zozi being a powerhouse in itself solidified her win.

I really love both. Since the first moment I saw Maria, I knew she will be a frontrunner at Miss Universe. But, she was lacking natural confidence, and her evening look was outstanding but didn't make her look beautiful and I didn't like it.

Even though I felt nobody else was at the same level as Maria during MUT 2017, I ended up liking Paweensuda so much better. She looked BEAUTIFUL during the final night. The gown was meh, but her performance wowed me.

Both were my bets during their Miss Universe participation. Maria is indeed beautiful, but Paweensuda's beauty is one in a billion.

I love Paweensuda so much.

Paweensuda should have competed in 2018. She could have been the Asian Denise Quinones but that feat went to Catriona easily because of the hype and strong IMG connections with Pinoy sponsors.

I just realize that the Asians never learn, they send their weakest queens when they host the pageant. Just look at 2005, 2008, 2016 and 2018, they could have done a lot better. Maxine Medina was a shoo-in because of her aesthetics but she was a horrible speaker, she would have clapped if her pageant was in another country.
