I am wondering why the girls Jamaica sends to Miss World are not beautiful as the ones they send to Miss Universe.

If Jamaica chooses well, the girl could be the frontrunner in Miss Universe (considering that the current line-up of the Americas are not that impressive). USA might win but I hope Jamaica gives her a tough fight.

Thats because Miss World and Miss Universe are 2 different pageants. The Jamaican women who go off to Miss World consistently receive some of the highest scores during the interview section. Always. And end up being at least Miss World Caribbean (even if they dont perform that well during the other fast track events). And thats because the judges of Miss World focus more on ensuring the winners are great speakers. With Miss Universe, thats not the most important criteria. We know external beauty plays a big role, much bigger than Miss World. The judges for Miss Jamaica World are smart by focusing more on intelligence, eloquence and women who are purposeful with their charity work. Toni Ann Singh won Miss World due to her interviews.

If MUJ chooses Miqueal as a winner, my confidence in her will be boosted because she speaks extremely well and its been a long time since we had a Miss Universe rep that spoke as eloquently as she does.

If everyone can be a beauty queen, what is hardwork?
Maybe there is no hardwork, only surgeries ?

DATE PUSHED BACK

However, Big News - Lu Sierra will be coaching the winner!

Lu Sierra for Miss Universe Ja finals
Monday, November 23, 2020

American actress and model coach Lu Celania Sierra will be special guest at the virtual finals of the Bahia Principe Miss Universe Jamaica Beauty, Fashion & Wellness Pageant 2020 scheduled for FLOW 1 TV on December 12 at 8:30 pm.

In addition to her special guest stint, Lu will also be training the emerging Miss Universe Jamaica title winner as part of the Bahia Principe Miss Universe Jamaica Beauty Boot Camp, an intensive and innovative week-long training plan designed by the organisation to immerse the title winner in a broad-based regime focusing on her stage walk and presentation, interview skills, nutrition, grooming, wardrobe, etiquette, fitness and exercise, hair styling, make-up techniques, personal branding, public speaking, and media relations. This is part of the strategy to fully prepare the title winner for representation at the Miss Universe finals next year.

“Having Lu visit Jamaica and work with the title winner has been a long-time dream of the Miss Universe Jamaica Organisation and we are ecstatic that she will be finally here as part of this year's programme to do this,” said Karl Williams, the pageant's national director.

Sierra was equally elated.

“Jamaica, I can't wait. I'm very excited to be with you and to work with your title winner. It's going to be fun!!!” she said.

Named “Best Coach” by The Global Beauty Awards, Sierra is the model and brings runway style to the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants. As a coach, her techniques help contestants with every twist, turn, answer, and smile they present to the judges and audiences. As the consultant to the Miss Universe Organization, she brought the wrap to the swimsuit portion of the show. Some of her winners include: Miss USA 2017 — Kara McCullough; Miss USA 2016 — Deshauna Barber; and, the runner-up Miss Hawaii — Chelsea.

She also appeared in the 1998 movie Stepmom.

Another important aspect of this year's pageant is that prior to the finals, the altruism presentations will be showcased to a live social media audience, who will get an opportunity not only to see and hear the incredible philanthropic endeavours the contestants have undertaken, first hand, but the fans can lend support to their favourite contestants' efforts.

The altruism initiative charges the contestants with identifying social needs in their communities, provide solutions to address these challenges and, in so doing, enhance the lives of the individuals concerned. Each year the contestants make impactful contributions to their communities, from building homes for the homeless, to providing meals, back-to-school supplies and a range of other meaningful acts of humanitarianism.

This year, the contestants are very excited to be of help to the nation in its handling of COVID-19 and some of the projects include programmes to assist children with tablets, Wi-Fi and data transmission, assistance for the elderly, mental counselling, rural electrification, among other commendable acts of kindness.

This is a mess, her methods are out dated. I remember her telling Davina not to whip her train which Davina ignored her same thing Vietnam had to begged her to do her twirls in prelims. The girls does the opposite of what she tells them. Instead of Jamaica wasting money bringing this outdated queen they should pay the girls their full prizes and winnings. Just saying why waste money when you can get a local pageant coach ?

^^ I agree with you to an extent. I do think though that there is a lot that Miqueal (who I'm just gonna call the winner at this point) can learn from her. I'm sure there will be others who will give their input as well as it pertains to the walk as Lu will only be there for 1 week. Its not even so much the walking for me (twists and turns), but the Miss Universe aura when walking. More than the walk, its about smiling at the right time, giving face and connecting with the judges. There are some tools she can def provide to Miqueal, and then Yendi, Kaci and the rest can take over from there. In addition to that, Lu will also help her with the interviewing as well. So that's something to look forward to.

Them having Lu come in suggests to me that they are very optimistic about Miqueal's chances and they are willing to go the extra mile to assist her as best as possible. We may not be thrilled with whom they chose, but at least they chose someone who has first hand years of experience with Miss Universe. She knows what it takes to win, so any input from her would be commendable.

Do you really have to say this in order to praise Jamaica? This is disrespectful. By the way, it would be too early to say it since Rabiya has only been reigning as Miss Universe Philippines for a month and she has just started her training.
No more bashers in 2022, please.

Also, watch Dani Walker's video to know more on how bashers can kill with their words.

Lu is waste of time and money. Her tactics are old and dated. Jamaica can just hire yendi, yendi is more current and more reliable. Lu only going to take the cash and dip lol. Miqueal is already a great runway walker why have Lu messing with that ? She is also very well spoken. Yendi can fine tune these things instead of giving lu the money invest the money into the girl wardrobe and makeup. Lu would have been great in the Trump era . Half the girls don’t even listen to her on stage they have their own personal trainer and especially if money is spent on their own personal trainer. I just believe the money should be invested in the winner and not trying to buy a placement. Lu won’t be able to teach the winner anything new within one weeks time. This take months to get it right
As a matter of fact I don’t see why Jamaica wasting the other girls time when there is only one clear winner. They should have just appointed a winner and put her into training.

U've made valid points. I guess time will tell. Yendi was involved in the training last year and sis still went up there looking a whole mess. I definitely think Yendi would have been better for sure though cause its better when ur working with someone that has such strong potential. To be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of Miqueal's walk. Some fine tuning is needed. I'm looking forward to seeing her progress.

As for the money part, I wholeheartedly agree with u there. Too many past winners have been complaining about not getting the prizes they were promised and not getting the full support and backing that is needed. If they used up the whole MUJ budget on Lu for 1 week and expect Miqueal to do everything else on her own til she flies out, that would be a shit show. It seemed as though they pushed the pageant back to accommodate Lu's schedule and visit. Well, let's see how everything unfolds. I still think that there are some things that she can teach Miqueal that will be valuable to her. But as u mentioned, at what cost?

The whole mju team needs a makeover and professionals. Why would anyone waste money brining Lu to Jamaica and have the queen fending for herself. Does that make sense ? Spend the money on the young lady make sure she is set and have everything that is needed for the pageant. And they better not bring back those tacky dated ass outfits they keep pushing on us.
Last year’s rep was a lazy beautiful mess that didn’t put in much time or effort.

Lu is waste of time and money. Her tactics are old and dated. Jamaica can just hire yendi, yendi is more current and more reliable. Lu only going to take the cash and dip lol. HIRING LU SIERRA IS JUST 'PAY-TO-PLAY'. THEY THINK GETTING A MUO INSIDER TO TRAIN THEIR GIRL WILL IMPROVE THE CHANCES OF PLACING OR RAISE THE WINNER'S PROFILE. LU TO ME IS JUST AN EGOMANIAC.

THEY'D BE BETTER OFF GETTING COACHES TO HELP WITH COMMUNICATION AND PRESENTATION. ITS OBVIOUS THAT THE MISSION OF MUO IS TO CHOOSE WOMEN WHO CAN SPEAK AND INSPIRE. THE GIRLS WHO KILL IT IN SS AND EG AREN'T EVEN PLACING OR NOT ADVANCING TO TOP 5 AND PEOPLE ARE ACTING SHOCKED.

I'VE BEEN WATCHING THESE LIVES AND I CAN HEAR WHY IANA DIDN'T DO WELL AT Miss Universe. SHE DOESN'T SOUND LIKE A WOMAN WITH A NATIONAL TITLE UNDER HER BELT.

I FIND IT ANNOYING HOW SHE START EVERY VIDEO WITH "HI EVERYONE! SOOO..."

Iana never stood a chance from Day 1. None of the ladies did. The only reason I was rooting for Leah last yr was because she at least had excellent speaking and communication skills. Iana sounds like a freshman in high school when she speaks.

Miqueal speaks very well. Her challenge will be condensing what she has to say and answer questions with more of a punch. She's confident though and thats the biggest part.

SHE NEEDS TO WATCH HER FACIAL EXPRESSIONS AS WELL. SOMETIMES SHE COMES OFF A BIT CONDESCENDING. MAYBE IT WAS BECAUSE IANA WASN'T A GOOD INTERVIEWER OR SHE WASN'T TOO ENGAGED IN THE PROCESS. I THINK I ALSO GOT A NONCHALANT VIBE FROM HER IN THE INTERVIEW WITH SOYINI, WHICH TO ME WAS ALSO NOT A GOOD SET UP.

I SAY THIS TO SAY THAT Miss Universe USES A ALL FEMALE "SELECTION COMMITTEE" AND THINGS MEN DON'T NOTICE OR CARE ABOUT WOMEN DO.

LEAH NEVER IMPRESSED ME AS A COMMUNICATOR, ANYONE CAN PUT NICE WORDS TOGETHER BUT IF ITS NOT CONVINCING IT WONT MATTER. HER STINT AT MJW, NOT EVEN MAKING TOP 5 IN A PAGEANT THAT PUTS A LOT OF WEIGHT ON PERSONALITY INTERVIEWS MADE ME REALIZE SOMETHING WAS OFF ABOUT HER.

I did notice that, she does not have the gift of gab and there are elements of immaturity, especially how she expresses herself. Not even Sandra Foster at 19 when competing at Miss Universe in Cancun Mexico, or Alison Barnett who was also 19, at Miss World, though a different contest, spoke like that. The 19 year olds from our golden years are a different breed from this generation.
