#CONGRATULATIONS @zozitunzi !!! • "I grew up in a world where a woman who looks like me, with my kind of skin and my kind of hair, was never considered to be beautiful. I think it is time that that stops today. I want children to look at me and see my face and I want them to see their faces reflected in mine." #zozitunzi @missuniverse @becauseofthem

That wasn't right. Black women were always considered to be beautiful. I hate it when people use the word "never". What a bad choice of phrase.

Others just want to play victim first before to be called empowered.

Didn’t Martin Luther King Jr have a speech saying “I have a Dream, that my children will one day live in a society where they will NOT be judged by the colour of their skin, but by the content of their character?” Kinda going backwards here ey?

Why does everything have to be about race? Can’t we just appreciate that they are beautiful women? Every body trying to stop racism and candidates just always keep bringing it up.

She is not playing victim. If you look at the comments of bitter Filipinos, Thais and Latinas mostly, South Africa is automatically seen as plain because she is black. Haters are calling this a political move, when politics have long played a part of this pageant ever since (hello to 2 Puerto Rican judges in 2001 and 2 Pinoy judges in 2018). Why are people saying that about South Africa now?
