However, we should keep in mind, that this is their first year as organisers and i am afraid it will take a lot of time for the greek pageantry to gain its lost glory back. That being said, i am not really expecting miracles to happen this year, i can easily see a not so strong batch of girls happening. Greek media are also to blame. The casting for the Star Hellas competition has received literally zero exposure. I doubt that girls who could be interested in this are aware of the fact that a selecting proceedure is running right now...The people of I Am One indeed renew the page on FB by posting updates, but this is not enough and this is definitely not their fault.
To answer to Smile's question, no, Greek women are not eager to join pageants, cause beauty contests in Greece are pretty much dead. They have nothing to gain from them, they cannot use them as a platform to succeed in the fields they wish, so why bother? They prefer to either continue with their studies, or do modelling.
Smile wrote:Yeah, that's what I figured.
It's going to take some time to bring back pageantry in Greece, if at all. I think I Am One can really have a productive year if they pick decent women via the casting call and then show the ability to train them properly for not only Miss Universe and Miss World but for careers in modeling or media, etc. I think if they can do that, then we will see women start to show interest in registering in the coming years.
If I Am One is smart, I also think they should invite former Star Hellas winners to come back and mentor the girls and appear on the final night to show how this path can certainly lead to success in several fields. Women like Doukissa Nomikou and Evangelia Aravani are perfect examples because they've been quite successful since winning Star Hellas. They can also bring back Ismini Dafopoulou and Iliana Papageorgiou, who are enjoying great success as models.
If they can do that, then they're in the right direction.

Αααα θυμάσαι τη συμπαθέστατη Αναστασία Σιδηροπούλου;;;

You look at these backroom casting calls and you will find a gem or two. But Prevelakis just never seemed to be able to crown the right girl. Has he lost touch with pageantry or is it a money under the table thing?

I am afraid it could be the latter. There are many girls who are such ψώνια that to satisfy their ego would force their parents (or bfs ) to pay for a crown so that they could boast to their friends and their neighbourhood. The international pageants do not seem to interest them.
As i am from the same city as Maria Psilou, i have heard some rumors about how she won the title, but ofc i cannot say such things in public. Besides, they technically are just "rumors".

Yes!!!
I'm just happy that we can discuss Star Hellas and Greece at Miss Universe again. It's going to be a fun Summer so I hope you guys are around, otherwise I'll be talking to myself in this thread.

Μακάρι να πάρει μέρος η Κατερίνα ξανά...αλλά 'έχει στεφθεί ήδη Μις Ελλάς! Είχε χάσει τότε το τίτλο; Η απλά δεν πήγε ΜW;;;

With that said, the batch at her casting call seemed weak, even for the low standards Prevelakis had set in previous years. There was one blonde girl who seemed to have potential but her name escapes me for some reason.
