It's not The language someone uses>>> the delivery >>>> the content>>>the command>>> these what make a Miss Universe + Beauty+ Elegance + Story/Advocacy.....
In fact Miss Universe Philippines 2016 spoke in her native tongue >>>> she understands and speaks English>>>>we know the outcome! :)>-

Even the best story of all time and all of pageantry >>>>> Does not guarantee a crown or placement>>>> Miss Iraq >>> what a woman of substance and story! She deserves all the applause!

Like our favorite food it needs spices here and there>>> that's Miss Universe the big 1>>>>>other pageants or the rest can crown someone by her looks alone, or advocacy/story or by how great someone answers a question >>>> not Miss Universe the big 1!!!!! :)>- :)>-

Some contestants like Miss Colombia Laura Gonzalez do that to buy time to think and to compose their answers.

Many Latina contestants are instructed to use a translator because even if you are fluent you shouldn't risk it, the majority of PR queens are told to answer in the language they feel most comfortable in. I am fluent in both Spanish and English (and if you write a bit of Italian or Portuguese I might be able to crack a few sentences) but if I was in a pageant like Miss Universe, I wouldn't risk it. I would use an interpreter.

Although from what I can see, they picked a shitty translator for the Spanish speakers (nothing like the one from the good years) and let's be real even with Colombia hearing the damn question in two diferrent languages she couldn't even answer it properly

I HAVE A NEWS FOR YOU GUYS
this is from Miss Indonesia's Translator during the pageant, the night after the final he make a live on insta answering people's questions
one of them is if when a candidate use interpreter did the time paused or not
he said it's not ! the time kept going so he translate it as fast as he could
so no buying time BUT it did help them to give more time to think I guess :|

If some girls wanted to prove they are intelligent,
They might want to use their native language and interpreter.

If your native language isn't English,
It's kind of risky to answer it.
And if you have some strong accent.

reason why she didn't win is because she over acted and her answer is very self centered like Ariadna's as if Miss Unverse only revolves Around Colombia

A lot of Filipinos and SHANDI are so obsessed w/ English! I remember Miss Universe 2016, I heard Thai, Tagalog, French, and Spanish. It felt so refreshing. That dumb blonde Shandi doesn't have the right to criticize Colombia since she only speaks ENGLISH!

Laura's case, it sure did buy her some time to think. She still needed that interpreter tho tbh.

A Latina, born and raised in Latin America, will never handle English better than Spanish, no matter how well she speaks English, because we think and feel in Spanish, in addition to having thousands of hours more practice than with English.

Also remember Irene Esser (Miss Venezuela 2012)? Since her terrible response in English, no Latina wants to take risks.

And about the crown, it was always destined for South Africa, nothing would have changed if Laura had responded in English.

Every girl should have right to talk in her native language, only if she thinks that she is that much good in English that she could talk as much eloquent as much she could say it in native language!
One think is if you could talk in English and comunicate with other people other is when you want to do your best answer in some question it demands perfect knowledge of English .
I remember how Sirene Suton had problem in final, and that was unfair, and I feel sorry for her, since I also didn't understand that question.

That reminded me so much of BB Pilipinas rules to not use an interpreter. I remember Venus wanting to speak Bikolano instead of english but Stella wouldn't allow her.

It's a ridiculous rule

Because blood is always thicker than water, Shitella is a Colombian who happens to run BINIBINING Pilipinas, the irony and the conflict of interest is served in front of everybody's faces.
