Although the ratings are way done from their heydays, the pageants still generate enough interest and revenue for both the org and the station.

Viewership appears to be small, but this perception is quite deceptive because the USA has a very large population. We're still talking MILLIONS of viewers and comparable revenue.

That's because the viewers in the United States don't just count. Miss USA, since it is the flagship national pageant of the Miss Universe pageant, is viewed by millions across the world. Of course, the adage that ''what happens in Miss USA happens in Miss Universe'' always proves all the time to be true unless significant changes are done like in 2011, where they didn't implement the Miss Earth format in Miss Universe (which was implemented for Miss USA that year). Meanwhile, this also applies to Miss Universe. While the majority of Americans no longer watch Miss Universe, many countries from the entire world watch just to see either their representatives represent their countries or even win the crown.
