Guys, I know some of us fans are still reeling from pretty lackluster results at Miss USA 2017, Miss Ecuador 2017 and Miss Puerto Rico 2017, but I am very excited with some glimmer of hope from the Irish pageant scene, so I have to share with you. Also, if I see even one more book on Museums, I am gonna put my head into a wall, so I need a distraction.
Some of you may know that Andrea Roche lost the licence for Miss Universe Ireland and now she has been replaced by Miss Indiana USA 2008, Brittany Mason. Now I know in 2015 I made a big hoopla about Rozanna Purcell taking over, and I was very disappointed with the results. But, I think this is different. At least, I hope it is. Ms. Mason genuinely seems to care about this pageant and trying to give Ireland a serious chance.
I have been the Ambassador for the Republic on Misso for 2 years now, and I have had to make do with only ever dealing with the Miss Ireland pageant (Not complaining, love the Org. and how great they are with Miss World) but Miss Universe is the pageant I most care about. And I have had to watch as other nations get regionals, preliminary competitions and photoshoots, whilst Ireland gets a casting, if even.
Looking at the new website, (Yes, Miss Universe Ireland has a website now! - http://missuniverseireland.eu/),it all seems legit. The pageant is set for August, 2017 and most importantly, it lists the duties the new Miss Universe Ireland is expected to undertake, including philanthropic duties. I don't know, maybe I am getting too excited too early, but I have a good feeling about Ms. Mason.
Hopefully 2017 is the year for Ireland.
