Brazil has the largest Japanese community outside of Japan!
Recently, we had Catharina Choi (half korean) as Miss World Brazil... it's time for a asian brazilian as Miss Universe Brazil!
Redhead and indigenous as well (despite Jakelyne Oliveira be black + white + indigenous)!

Thanks for you love! :hx

Maybe a pageant version of Gisele Bundchen's Olympics opening dress (also by Herchcovitch)!

I'm really not understanding the hate with the curly hair? Part of what makes Raissa so special is how her confidence beams out of her because she's genuinely representing herself as a proud Afro-Brazilian.

Many, many, many black women possess curly hair. Why? Because it's different! Now I can't speak for them all but it's disheartening to think that many of them feel ashamed by their curls and feel pressured to conform to products which damage their hair in order to make it appear straight or wavy by Western standards.

Raissa looks fine and drop dead gorgeous just the way she is. Many young black girls with the same kind of hair are going to watch Raissa slay the Miss Universe stage and feel beautiful later this month.

As for the designer changes I'm both worried and excited for Alexandre Herchcovitch, he have no experience with pageant gowns but I think he'll understand Raíssa's personality and gives us something wow and bold.

Nice thread yuma, you need a tag upgrade!

I'm worried about the gown too, it can be fabulous or else a disaster, because Herchcovitch has no experience with beauty pageants, but it's a change and chaging is not a bad thing. Nice thread Yuma,Parabéns!!! =c3 =c3 =c3

The curly natural hair makes her stand out!

Polishop just launched a new ad with Raissa about your curly hair, so keep the curly hair is also interesting for the organization, and I think she can win with this exotic look, even in the Philippines!

I agree, you have to stand out :=p

why some people so mad about her hair? its part of who she is and I really doubt that its only because she wants to stand out. she is proud of her origins and more than happy to show it. I wish all black beauty queens could stop trying to go with the Eurocentric ideal of beauty and embrace their cultural heritage. Beauty comes in different packages y'all. I am really 100% behind Raissa no matter the outcome come 29 January, she is my miss universe.

I'm not sure how the Filipinos' level of like (or dislike) for curly hair--or any other physical aspect--has anything to do with winning the crown in the host country. Local fan favoritism does not always translate to victory. During the 1994 pageant season in the Philippines, Miss Belgium and Miss Thailand were favored heavily by the locals, while Miss India was virtually ignored. Yet, look who won.

Raissa's curls and arched eyebrows lend to the uniqueness of her beauty. Let her keep them, let her wow the Filipinos with her brand of beauty, and let the official judges decide!

When I firstly saw her I was quite in doubt about what kind of look suits her better: curly or straight hair? and I'm sure this answer will never be answered just because she looks beautiful no metter the way she uses her hair... this woman is versatile and really brings something new to the table. I personally believe she trully represents the type of woman we brazilians are awaiting for years. A black queen is representing us and I never felt so proud before. She is very confident with the curly hair she has and that's what is gonna make her stand out from the beggining to the end. Raissa'll shut down the haters engines slaaaaaaaaaaying the Miss Universe stage with her afro :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* IF YOU READ THIS RAISSA, DON'T DARE TO SWITCH YOUR AFRO HAIR

3. Maxine

So far, these are the strong ones - but I think Maxine might be only in the final 5 since she's a bit shy! Well, go Raissa! :=p :=p :=p :=p :=p :=p :=p :=p :=p :=p :=p :=p :=p :=p :=p

Miss Brazil is stunning! She might run away with the crown. She's a threat to Colombia, Philippines, Venezuela, Thailand, Indonesia, Mexico, Panama, and other equally stunning ladies at this edition of Miss Universe. I wish Miss Brazil the best of luck!

48 years without crown is so much time! :%((
Bring the crown, RAISSA! :!!

I personally think that with straight hair she look like "half" of the contestants!
The curly natural hair makes her stand out!

Polishop just launched a new ad with Raissa about your curly hair, so keep the curly hair is also interesting for the organization, and I think she can win with this exotic look, even in the Philippines!

You know what? The only thing that I dislike about her? :p Her hair that now look like too much to our new Miss France :p Damnit if she wins Alicia will have a too similar look newt year! Not fair :p

More seriously I really wouldn't mind :) She's in my top 5 and about to be locked in my top 3.

VESTIDO BRANCO :hx :hx :hx :hx :hx

I love Raissa in white. This is the best choice for her. Hopefully Herchovitch will make a fabulous gown. I'm SO excited to see it.
