Tonight, a new batch of Philippine pageant kings will be named at the Misters 2015 The Pageant finals night to be held at the Resorts World Manila. But before that, here are my final choices for MISTERS 2015. The candidates are categorized based on how I see them in the competition.
Tacloban City – Rick Kristoffer Palencia (for Mr International)
Rick Kristoffer Palencia has proven many times throughout the competition that he is the major force to reckon with. Making it to tje top 5 of the beach wear, talent and formal wear competitions and winning the Best in Ethnic Wear award are enough to tell that he is slaying the competition. As the first among the 30 candidates to hit the stage, Rick has set the bar really high. Naysayers claim he lacks the charisma and the height. But those who have seen him up close many times (myself included) say otherwise. Rick's effortless charm and unassuming beauty make him a standout.
Pagbilao, Quezon – Reniel Villareal (for Mr Global)
This guy has already captured attention during the final screening. His very Pinoy looks, well-proportioned body and towering height make all the girls and the girls at heart melt. Reniel didn't disappoint throughout the season. He minted his front-runner status by finishing in the top 5 of the beach wear, ethnic wear and formal wear competitions. All the signs are pointing at a sure title for this guy come finals. However, he need to improve in the Q&A segment in order to cement his victory.
Australia – Robert Mcnamara (for Mr Model International)
Robert is one of the most anticipated candidates in the competition and he didn't disappoint. He got one of the most stunning faces in the competition. Aside from that, he also boasts of a good body and communication skills. He appeared to be a little under the radar in previous events. Making it as a finalist in the Crossfit challenge seems an affirmation that he'll come out stronger come finals night.
Germany – Siegried Schmidt Bauer (for Mr Tourism International)
This 27-year-old half-German international cabin crew was born and raised in Cebu. He could be connsidered as the "fan favorite" among the candidates after winning the pre-arrival poll and the texters' choice award during the beach wear competition in Davao. But aside from his perceived popularity, Sieg is also a talented man. His song and sketching number earned him a Top 5 spot in the Talent competition. His previous experiences in modelling will definitely come in handy when he hits the runway come finale.
City of Manila – Don Mcgyver Cochico (Runner-up)
Like Neil Perez, Don is banking on his police officer background for a shot at winning any of the titles at stake. His performance has been underwhelming in the early rounds, but that doesn't mean he won't fight til the very end. He needs to add more confidence in his presentation to complement the looks, the height and the body.
Santa Rosa City – Karan Singdole
He literally stands out among the candidates because of his towering 6'2" height and Indian looks, but this guy has so much more to offer. His good physique earned him a top 5 spot in the beach wear competition. With his presentation skills, he got the nod of the judges and made it to the top 5 of the ethnic wear segment. He might be Indian by blood, but Karan is 100% Pinoy by heart.
Lipa City – John Nicholo Zacarias
The fishmonger and registered nurse has proven to be a worthy competitior since Day 1. Winning the Darling of the Press award is no surprise given how well mannered and adorable this guy is. His best asset is his well-sculpted body, which earned his a spot in the beach wear top 5.
Great Britain – Jules Chan
Jules made a good impression during the press presentation with his well-sculpted body. His song and dance number during the talent portion was very entertaining. Yet these weren't enough to place him as a finalist in the early fast track rounds. But it's never over 'til it's over for this young man. He was one of the seven finalists in the Crossfit challenge held early this week and finished in the Top 5 of the formal wear competition.
Laguna Province – John Edgar Adajar
The “maangas” look is what makes JE adorable, but once you get to talk to him, he's very amiable and well-spoken. This mixed martial arts fighter and a pre-law student has a strong stage presence, but needs to work on improving his physique. But watch out, because he will surely rock the Q&A round and give them front-rinners a run for their money.
Floridablanca, Pampanga – Patrick Magtanong
Patrick owns one of the freshest faces in the competition. This tall and slender man has walked the ramp of the Philippine Fashion Week and has done a few photoshoots for designers and clothing brands. It won't be a surprise if he snatches a title.
Iloilo City – Willan Pagayon
Olongapo City – Earlmond Ross Lee
Bohol Province – AR dela Serna
Bacolor, Pampanga - Arcel Yambing
Cebu City – Carlos Ching
