My favourites are definitely Megan Young, Pia, Kylie. I think they are the best queens in Philippine history.

The only wins that I find most questionable are ME 2015 and 2017, especially 2017 (probably the least beautiful Big 5 winner in history) and it's even more sketch coz it's Philippine owned. ME 2014 was a diva and the only deserving Philippine delegate at Miss Earth to win. She could have given Paulina and Migbelis a run for their money. To be fair, 2015 grew on me and she IS really pretty, but she was definitely not the best that year, she just lucked out with the best answer that night, which doesn't necessarily equate to being the best overall.

The Philippines is definitely THE powerhouse in Asia though, the other countries don't even come close.

Thank you Elle! Well, I kind of agree with you regarding 2015 and 2017 Miss Earth. When I first read a post that Philippines won a back to back, I was in disbelief. However, after watching Angelia's performance, she gave her best although she didn't looked best. I thought she looked plain. However, I grew to love her during her reign. Regarding 2017, I agree that she's one of the least beautiful Big 5 winners in history. During the telecast, I was really hoping that Colombia will win the crown. However, Karen was really unstoppable during the question and answer round, so I kind of accepted the result even though it was not the result that I expected.

No idea why some pinoy worried about Phililipines will clap on Miss Universe. After I saw the ways PH fans treated Miss Universe, I believed PH will break Veneszula's record of 24 years making the cut. PH is the biggest market for Miss Universe. In terms of winner, I do believe PH will claim MW and Miss Universe very soon again. I always think Miss World Philippines representatives are much better than MUP representatives. But Pinoy hyped MUP too much. The next crown PH get will be from ME.

Thanks in part to the beauty camps Aces and KF.

HOWEVER

I dont understand why Philippine beauty camps still trained non-filipino candidates

KF... what happened to your For Country for Crown mission?

while you dont charge trainees for the the training they get, I just dont understand why you do it for non-pinoys for free?

Is Aces doing it for a fee for non-pinoys?

After I saw the ways PH fans treated Miss Universe, I believed PH will break Veneszula's record of 24 years making the cut. PH is the biggest market for Miss Universe. In terms of winner, I do believe PH will claim MW and Miss Universe very soon again. I always think Miss World Philippines representatives are much better than MUP representatives. But Pinoy hyped MUP too much. The next crown PH get will be from ME.

Well, Endeavor (WME/IMG) is quite unpredictable in choosing its Top 16 quarterfinalists. We didn't expect Indonesia to clap this early. In the '90s, India seemed to be the force to be reckoned with, but clapped in 2003. Venezuela shockingly clapped in 2004. Even though we are the "biggest" market of Miss Universe, time changes. We might clap unexpectedly, and I do not want that to witness. That's why most of us are pressuring our girls to give their best because it was painful to see our girls clapping in their respective pageants.

I just hope we will win Miss Universe and MW in the next five years. Another decade or more of waiting is painful. However, I really have this odd feeling that PH will win ME next year. I just hope I'm wrong.

Is Aces doing it for a fee for non-pinoys?

I think both camps are asking for fee in training non-Filipino women. I doubt they will train other nationalities if it is for free.

A refreshing read from all the trivial and impertinent posts here in the site. A wake up call for all members and posters here to be observant about. I consider this post as a standard by which all other posts here in Missosology should be measured against nowadays.

A tribute to Philippine achievements in international pageantry tempered by magnanimity. Pageant-focused but not myopic. Objective. Factual. Tasteful. Straightforward but somehow restrained. Above all, it is RELEVANT.

This is the sequel of my previous thread, "PHILIPPINES' BIG 5 STREAK QUEENS 2010s*", made last January 2016. A lot has changed since I've written that post. There were ups and downs in the the last two years of the Philippine pageantry. We may have experienced failures in the past two years, but these failures didn't pulverize the spirits of our queens and the Filipino supporters. We may have failed in some pageants, but there are things that we should also celebrate, and it will be the main subject of this thread. I hope you all enjoy reading.

Let's start with our achievement in overall Big 5 pageants:

THE LONGEST STREAK OF WINS IN BIG 5 HISTORY (continuous)

Image

After winning Miss Earth 2017, the Philippines currently holds the record of having the LONGEST STREAK OF WINS in the history of Big 5 pageants by winning for five straight years beating Venezuela's record of four. The streak started when Mutya Datul was crowned as Miss Supranational last 2013 in Belarus and a domino effect happened when the Philippines started to win in different major pageants in a span of five calendar years. As of now, the Philippines has amassed a total of EIGHT CROWNS in the past five years. The Philippines is still the ONLY COUNTRY TO WIN ALL FIVE MAJOR PAGEANTS.The biggest question will be, can we sustain this winning streak? All we can do for now is pray and hope that we will win another major crown next year.

THE FASTEST COUNTRY TO WIN ALL FIVE MAJOR PAGEANTS AND THE SOLE COUNTRY TO ACHIEVE A SANDWICH MULTIPLE VICTORIES IN A YEAR

Image

Another rare feat made by the Philippines is by WINNING ALL MAJOR pageants in a span of THREE YEARS. It has never happened before and the Philippines is the sole country to do that. And to add, the Philippines is the only country to win multiple victories in a single year twice in a short span of time with just TWO YEARS gap! India's record was six years (1994,2000) and Venezuela's record was 22 years (1981,2013).

THREE MAJOR CROWNS IN ONE YEAR.

Image

The Philippines made a rare feat in 2013. It was the only country to win THREE BIG 5 CROWNS in ONE YEAR. The Philippines won both Miss Supranational and Miss World in September and to add a Christmas bonus in 2013, the Philippines won its fifth Miss International.

Currently has THE LONGEST STREAK OF PLACEMENT IN MISS UNIVERSE (continuous) AND THE FIRST ASIAN COUNTRY TO WIN ITS THIRD MISS UNIVERSE CROWN.

Image

Some of you may say that USA has the longest streak of placement in the Miss Universe history, but please read the title of my thread. It says 2010s, so we will cover the current decade which started in 2010 and will end in 2019. Anyway, the Philippines currently has the longest streak of placement in Miss Universe. Even Miss Universe acknowledged that during the announcement of Top 16 in Miss Universe 2017. The Philippines' streak started when Venus Raj ended up as 4th Runner-up and after Rachel Peters placed in the Top 10 of Miss Universe 2017, the Philippines garnered its EIGHT CONSECUTIVE placement in the pageant. In the span of eight years, the Philippines accumulated 1 crown, 4 runners-up, 1 finalist, and 2 semifinalists. However, the Philippines should not rest on its laurels since the Endeavor is quite unpredictable in choosing its semifinalists. Indonesia recently ended its four year streak which warns us that if we won't adapt to the changes imposed by the new owner, we can bid goodbye to our achievement. The question that may arise is, can the Philippines sustain its streak of placements? Only time will tell.

THE COUNTRY'S LONGEST STREAK OF PLACEMENT IN MISS WORLD (continuous) AND THE SOLE SOUTHEAST ASIAN COUNTRY WITH MISS WORLD WIN.

Image

After Laura Lehmann placed in the Top 40 of Miss World 2017, the Philippines garnered its SEVENTH CONSECUTIVE placement in Miss World which is the longest in the country's history of participation in the contest. The streak started in 2011 after Gwendoline Ruais placed as First Runner-up. In the span of seven years, the Philippines accumulated 1 crown, 2 runners-up, 1 finalist, 1 semifinalist, and 2 quarterfinalists. Can we sustain this feat and win our second blue crown? Everyone hopes for that.

LONGEST STREAK OF PLACEMENT OF AN ASIAN COUNTRY IN MISS SUPRANATIONAL (continuous) AND THE FIRST ASIAN MISS SUPRANATIONAL.

Image

After Chanel Thomas placed in the Top 10 of Miss Supranational 2017, the Philippines garnered its SIXTH CONSECUTIVE placement in Miss Supranational which is the longest for any Asian country. The streak started in 2012 after Elaine Moll placed as Third Runner-up. In the span of six years, the Philippines accumulated 1 crown, 1 runner-up, 1 semifinalist, and 3 quarterfinalists. Can we sustain this feat and finally enter the Magic 5 and win our second Supra crown? Only time will tell.

A BACK TO BACK TO SANDWICH MISS EARTH AND THE TOP PERFORMING NATION IN MISS EARTH

Image

The Philippines is the most successful nation in Miss Earth. The country has amassed a total of 3 crowns in a span of four years. Quite an achievement! The Philippines won a back to back in 2014 and 2015 when Jamie Herrell crowned Angelia Ong in Austria. The streak of placement in Miss Earth ended when Philippines clapped to Ecuador in 2016. However, an unexpected, but deserving victory happened when Ecuador crowned the Philippines in the 17th Edition of the pageant. Some pageant fans are still questioning the results of the pageant, but they need to remember that USA won Miss Universe in its soil six times including a sandwich victory in '50s and has the most number of wins in the pageant and UK crowned itself a back to back in its own soil too in '60s. However, we should always remember that there were judges in the panel and they are the ones who chose the winner in Miss Earth and Karen Ibasco deserved her victory for slaying the two question and answer portions.

THE SHORTEST WAIT OF THE PHILIPPINES FOR THE MISS INTERNATIONAL CROWN AND THE TOP PERFORMING ASIAN COUNTRY IN MISS INTERNATIONAL

Image

The Philippines is the most successful Asian country in Miss International for having six victories. However, another victorious moment happened when Kylie Verzosa won Miss International in 2016. Before that, the last time Philippines won was in 2013 through Bea Santiago. The country waited for THREE YEARS before winning the pearl crown again which was the shortest wait of the Philippines to win Miss International. The longest wait of the Philippines was 26 years when it won in 1979 and won its fourth crown in 2005. Before Kylie won in 2016, the shortest wait of the Philippines was six years when Gemma Cruz won in 1964 and Aurora Pijuan won in 1970.
