To lessen our carbon footprint: I will throw the plastic cup after drinking into the dustbin provided in the shopping mall according to the categories of the dustbin to help ease the process of recycling.
Here's a throwback to LifeJuice's #internationalrecycleweek ! Recycled 20 LifeJuice glass bottles. Do you know that the energy saved from recycling one glass bottle can run a 100-watt light bulb for four hours or a compact fluorescent bulb for 20 hours? Glass is 100% recyclable and can be used again and again.
Let's play our part to make this Earth we live in a little greener by the day.
Use a cup instead of letting your tap water flow. This will not only reduce the cost of your water bill but also reduce the amount of water wastage. Some of us might occasionally leave the tap running while brushing our teeth, unconsciously wasting gallons of water. So use a cup! You'll be more aware of how much water you're actually using
Earth is called green planet due to the presence of plants on it. Without plants, the environment and human life on this earth cannot exist. Plants help to provide oxygen, prevent soil erosion and more.
That is why I love gardening so much.
I wish that everyone can start from now to plant a tree in their house.
I use recycle bags every time I hit the mall or go for groceries shopping to stop the usage of plastic bags. All of us can also recycle the nylon recycle bags thus converting existing decomposed bags into newer ones. The choice is ours - Save it or Waste it.
The first step of reducing our carbon footprint is to get on foot! We had to decide to hitch a ride or to walk, and I'm proud to say we decided to walk this close to 5km route. Most of my Penang friends would know that I am a big fan of walking to get to places. XD thank you to those kind souls who sometimes would offer me a ride or give me a lift. I still remember how most people were so surprised to hear my answer to their question of "So, since you're not from Penang, how do you go to work?" - My reply: "I walk". It's not that bad! Those daily 30 mins walk to and back from work were like my thinking time. No regrets.
Every early in the morning, I will prepare my lunch by using food container to pack the food. This will help to reduce the use of plastic bag and foam container.
Here at Perdana Botanical Garden to celebrate World Environment Day! This year's theme is "Connecting People To Nature". We are one with nature. We depend on nature. Thus, we must do our part to give back to nature.
Rice contains starch, which gives the rice water its opaque, white color. Using it is a wonderful way to conserve water and a great way to take some of the worry out of over-fertilizing. The starches from leftover rice water are beneficial to plants, encouraging healthy bacteria that grow in the roots.
I will drop by the recycle center every once in a while to recycle the newspaper that I have received daily. It is important to recycle items which can be recycled as this will avoid open burning which will cause air pollution as well. What are you waiting for ? Paper, Bottles, Cans, Plastics, Recycle them all !
Decreased Pollution. In addition to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, recycling plastic water bottles also helps to decrease the amount of pollution in the air and water sources. Many landfill facilities will incinerate plastic bottles to save waste, which can emit toxic pollutants or irritants into the air.
Happy World Environment Day 2017 everyone! \Just on WED briefly, this day is dedicated to raise awareness and spark up actions for the protection of our environment. This year's host is Canada and the theme is "Connecting People with Nature" - and that's exactly what I am trying to do and as for today, have successfully done so with my brother (his awareness level from 1-10 = 3). Hey, they say it all starts from home, except for I've traveled 152KM to do so with him. #itwasworthit Spent a good 1 hour by
1. Introducing my brother to the WED site http://worldenvironmentday.global/ and explaining to him what it is all about & the concept of WED.; 2. Getting him to sign up on iNaturalist , which is a social network to share biodiversity information (spot on to the theme of this year!) You can learn SOOO MUCH on our nature and have access to observational data across the globe online! (imagine bird watching online - for those who do not have the time to be in the outdoors - like my brother's case); https://www.inaturalist.org/signup…
So, don't miss out this fun way of learning about the natural wonders around us by going on to the site and signing up as well! P.s: This was totally fun! My brother was totally into it! We had a good bonding quality session and his awareness level went up to 4 now. To all my friends, if you would like to know more about this, feel free to ask me about it and I'll be glad to help! xx
Why drive two separate cars when you can carpool with a friend?
In 2011, it is reported that the total number of registered vehicles on Malaysian roads has passed 21.25 million units. It's now 2017, the numbers are rising by day. Simple actions like carpooling helps to reduce the amount of carbon footprints significantly. Alone we can do so little, but together we can do so much. Let's make a change in our lifestyles and move towards a greener environment.
Tree Planting Campaign held at Yayasan Seribu Harapan Malaysia (orphange home) When children plant trees, they can see for themselves the structure of trees, learn what they need and how they grow. Children become aware that they can play a role in protecting the environment through personal involvement. Ultimately, it is hoped that the experience will help them make intelligent decisions about conservation and use of our valuable natural resources.
To save water during car wash,we can fill the bucket with water instead of using open hose. Then use a wet rag or sponge dipped with clean water to rinse your car. This will help us to save water effectively.
