I remember then, it was on 1988 that the changing of Pilipino to Filipino was enforced. Medyo naksanayan na namin na PIlipino ang gamit instead of the colonialized Filipino sa klase. Ngayon namn Pilipinas to Filipinas. Hayz wala na tlgang magawang iba ang gobyerno kundi ang palitan ang mga nkasanayan na. Hahahahha. Pataasin nyo na lang ang ekonomiya at nang makabalik na kami sa Pinas.

PILIPINAS... TAGALOG WORD FOR PHILIPPINES.

FILIPINAS/FILIPINOS... CITIZENS OF THE PHILIPPINES.

TO CHANGE FROM PILIPINAS TO FILIPINAS REFERRING TO A COUNTRY, I DON'T SEE A LETTER "F" IN THE TAGALOG ALPHABETS ONLY THE LETTER "P."

So, hindi na rin daw P-Noy, Fi-Noy na daw! Lol. :%)) So beki!

But it could actually work. F-Filipinas, F-Filipinos, PH- (F when pronounced) -for Philippines. Andaming Pinoy (or should I say "Finoy") na kung maka-pronounce ng Philippines eh "Pilipins", aminin man natin sa hindi.

Filipinas actually sounds better than Pilipinas.

Now I have to "pucking" get used to it.

I actually like it to be Filipinas once again.
When I was in Grade School, the subject was still called Filipino the same as the citizens of the Philippines.
In the early 90s, a DECS ordinance changed it to Pilipino and likewise the name of the country to Pilipinas from Filipinas.

I preferred to retain the influences in our language since it defines where we came from. Filipino (Tagalog) afterall is a blend of Bahasa, Malay, Sanskrit and Spanish languages, so why should we ditch letter F?

Postby mikko10 » Sun Jun 30, 2013 3:52 am

It actually make sense to add a letter F in the Tagalog language cuz there are plenty of words that are derived from the Spanish language such as the name of the country FILIPINAS from King Felipe or King Phillip. It would be awesome if our country is changed to REPUBLIC of the FILIPINAS, Mutya ng FILIPINAS, Binibining FILIPINAS, Miss FILIPINAS. I'm actually confused where the name Philippines came from when in fact the name of the Spanish king was FELIPE.

When we say Philippines, the accurate pronunciation is FEE-LI-PINS not PI-LI-PINS. Although I've heard so many Filipinos mispronouncing it.

Words that are used in Tagalog that derived from Spanish:

Fuerte = strong / loud
Formal = formal
Fantastico = fantastic
Foto = picture
Fruta (s) = Fruit (s)
Frito/Frita = fried
Familia = Family
Flores = Flowers
Finalmente = Finally
Fresco = Cool (describes weather, not people)
Frente = Front
Falda = Skirt
Fotografía = Photography
Filantropía = Philanthropy
Famoso/Famosa = Famous
fútbol = soccer
fábrica = factory
feliz = happy
fabuloso = fantastic
fecha = date
febrero = February

I think we should start pronouncing and writing these words in there proper way. Another mispronounced letters is LL such as

ViLLanueva - correct way to say it in Spanish is VI-YA-NWE-VA
ReviLLa - RE-VI-YA
ViLLa - VEE-YA
and so forth and so on.

Addendum: When our delegates competed at Miss Maja International and Miss Maja Mundial, FILIPINAS were actually used on their sashes.

That's true. Whenever a Hispanic/Latino or European ask me where I'm from, I always responded, Filipinas.

parang ganito lang yan

Ang UAAP magiging UAAF
Malaking froblema!

Kahit itanong n’yo pa kay Tourism Secretary Mon Jimenez…
Ang “It’s more fun in Filipinas!” – hindi veventa!

Pati mga d’yaryo mag-aalsa:
Filipinas Daily Inquirer? Ano va?!
Eh ang Filipinas Star? Faano kikita?

Filipinas Stock Exchange?
Ano ‘yon? Pangalan ng casa?!

From PUP to PUF
Ayaw ng mga aktibista.

Philippine Normal University
Filipinas Normal University na.

Pati mga kadete, magwawala
Kapag naging Fee-M-A ang school nila.

Filipinas National Police?! Waley!
Armed Forces of Filipinas?! Kalurkey!

Narinig n’yo na ba ang balita?
May bagong bagyo raw na pumasok sa Filipinas Area of Responsbility.
Papunta na nga raw ito sa West Filipinas Sea.

Parang may mali!

Sandali.

Speaking of moralista…
Ang Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines
Magiging Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Filipinas na!
Mai-imbyerna sina Father at sasabihin “Over!”
Baka muling pag-initan ang “My Husvand’s Lober.”

Kaya sa Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino: Naku po… good luck!
Itong suggestion n’yo, isang malaking: watdapak!
