Among all the IMG queens, only two stands out for the work they have done after their pageant careers have ended. The first one is Iris Mittenaere of France and the other is none other than Catriona Gray of the Philippines.

In today’s blogpost, let’s review what the 5’10” stunner has been up to since she relinquished her title in December of 2019.

NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR CULTURE AND THE ARTS AMBASSADOR
– Early in the year, in January, Catriona was named as a Ambassador for the NCCAA. No other national winner has been given the honor to represent the NCCAA with such impact as Catriona have. During her stint as a Miss Universe candidate and winner, she has made public her support for local culture by showcasing Philippine traditional weaves and indigenous cultures in her wardrobe and promotional videos. With her Raise Your Flag campaign she has promoted the arts and crafts of Laguna and La Union. She’s been quite effective in her role that she is tapped later in the year by another government body as a spokesperson.

YOUNG FOCUS | ADVOCATE FOR QUALITY EDUCATION
– Be it helping raise funds for learning equipment for Young Focus or in doing speaking engagements for International Youth Day 2020, the former Miss Universe winner has kept true to her promise to always speak up for education. She has been vocal for her support in educational initiatives that she started way before her pageant career began in 2016. To this day, Catriona has been actively promoting groups and organizations that help provide quality education accessible to more Filipino children.

SHOWBIZ & MUSIC CAREER
– As an artist, she has been a familiar face on the TV circuit with regular appearances in ASAP Official. Owing to her talent in singing and hosting, she has performed with some of the country’s best singers like Regine Velasquez and Martin Nievera. It has also been made public that a variety program in TV5 is in the works for her and actor-singer Piolo Pascual. With her magnanimity, she was also tapped for a wax figure with the famous Madame Tussaud’s in Hong Kong.

Here’s an earlier blogpost on her post Miss Universe activities…
BOOK DEAL
– Let’s not forget to mention that she has signed a book deal with ABS-CBN Publishing. She says that the book is “about conquering yourself, conquering others and conquering for a purpose to achieving your dreams”. A close acquaintance once mentioned this to us a full two months before the deal was made public. This was around November of 2019 and let us know that the book will contain a huge portion of her story in preparing for the Binibining Pilipinas pageant until her journey is completed in the Miss Universe pageant. Surely this will be a pageant fan’s must-have once it’s published as everyone will be let into the behind-the-scenes of her journey, the good and the bad.

DEPARTMENT OF TRADE & INDUSTRY OTOP AMBASSADOR
– In late July 2020, Catriona was named ambassador for the One Town, One Product Philippines | Modernong Obra Disenyong Atin initiatives of the DTI. Through this initiative she is working to uplift, spread awareness, support and encourage local communities, artisans & craftsmen, and especially weavers with their livelihood and products. Her work is primarily focused in the promotion of Filipino small businesses, MSMEs and entrepreneurs by giving them a hand, to showcase their talent, creativity and ingenuity along with their stories on her platform.

Here’s an article written earlier regarding her activities as the reigning Miss Universe…

BINIBINING PILIPINAS MENTOR
– When she was seen with BPCI Chairperson Stella Marquez Araneta, fans were quick to speculate an involvement in the Binibining Pilipinas pageant. Together with another brainy beauty queen, Nicole Cordoves, the two dynamic duo has started building up the BBP2020 candidates by providing training on how they can best tell their stories in an organic and effective way. While the pageant may be currently at a halt, we can be sure that both beauties will make strides in helping out the Binibini candidates.

LGBTQI+ & HIV-AWARENESS ADVOCATE
– Even before she became Miss Universe, the Love Yourself Ph has been lucky with Catriona being involved in the HIV-AIDS Awareness front. After her reign the former Miss Universe has been a vocal supporter of HIV testing and ending the stigma with those living with the ailment. During the Gay Pride month, she continuously posted message of support to the LGBTQ community.

SMILE TRAIN GLOBAL AMBASSADOR
– It was mentioned during a live chat with the new Miss Universe Colombia National Director that there is a possibility of Catriona being invited to grace the finals and possibly do some charity work for Smile Train in Colombia. Catriona since days as the then reigning Miss Universe managed to put into mind the importance of the work done by Smile Train. Before becoming a Global Ambassador for the organization, during her Bb. Pilipinas days, she was already involved in the Smile Train PH organization.

PRODUCT ENDORSER AND MAGAZINE COVERS
– Even as the reigning Miss Universe, Catriona has amassed a number of product endorsements from San Miguel, Jollibee, BDO, etc… As the current Samsung Galaxy Series endorser, she still is actively promoting new product releases. In February of this year, Catriona was among the four ladies who were unveiled as Creamsilk endorser alongside celebrity A-lister Heart Evangelista, former Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach and award-winning actress Nadine Ilustre.

It hasn’t been a full year since she has relinquished her crown as Miss Universe but Catriona’s post-pageant career is one that any former would kill or die for. Imagine what else she would achieve in a year or two, or even perhaps in a span of four to five years… We might see her achieving worthwhile careers as those of Margie Moran (Ballet Manila President and a Mindanao tourism and culture endorser) or Gemma Cruz (former Department of Tourism Secretary and former head of the National Museum). A public service position in the United Nations might not be a far-fetched idea in her future…
