DARNA. wrote:ON THE SHARON CUNETA - FRANKIE PANGILINAN BROUHAHA...
Let me get this straight:
1. Sharon Cuneta's husband Kiko Pangilinan is a senator, and public officials are, by default, the prime target of criticisms.
2. Her erstwhile very private daughter Frankie Pangilinan suddenly came out of nowhere and turned full-on Greta Thunberg with chronically wall-to-wall media coverage to boot, making her a public figure just like both of her parents.
3. Unlike Greta who campaigned against climate change, and to make matters more complicated for the newly political young woman, Frankie even went a step further by defiling the memory of Chief Justice Renato Corona.
4. But wait, there's more! Frankie even went another step further by defiling Corona's memory using her thoughts from 8 years ago, when she was just a very impressionable 11-year-old.
5. Frankie's statements generally align with that of the Liberal Party that the general public emphatically rejected in 2019, as none of its Otso Diretso candidates won.
6. Yes, there may be a couple of people who went overboard, and I fully respect Sharon's right to pursue legal action. What's suspicious, however, is the speed at which the Justice Department enthusiastically acted on her complaint, especially since the same agency has dragged its feet on many issues, including Koko Pimentel's quarantine violation.
7. Sharon, meanwhile, went a step further by even namedropping her late father, Pablo Cuneta, a once-powerful local politician in Pasay.
8. Various Liberal Party figures defended either mother or daughter.
9. Sharon even went further by saying VP Leni Robredo should win 2022 and that the country has lost decency under Pres. Rody Duterte.
10. All these obviously irritated the following groups:
[a] those who see Frankie as a Liberal Party scion,
[b] those who believe in CJ Corona,
[c] those who harbor a distrust of mainstream media,
[d] those who see Frankie as receiving special treatment from the Justice Department,
[e] those whose loved ones were victims of Kiko Pangilinan's Juvenile Justice Act,
[f] those who strongly dislike Kiko Pangilinan,
[g] those who think Gabby Concepcion is a better match for Sharon,
[h] those who are frustrated to see yet another ABS-CBN artista lose his/her marbles,
[i] those who think Frankie is another clueless child who's lecturing the public about life lessons that she still knows very little about,
[j] those who follow Sharon for her artistry but not her politics,
[k] those who strongly dislike the LP figures who defended either Sharon or Frankie,
[l] those who hate VP Leni Robredo, especially those belonging to the 14 million++ who voted for the other VP candidate and who feel cheated to this day,
[m] those who support Duterte and feel insulted by Sharon's statement about their supposed indecency,
[n] those who like Inday Sara more than Ate Shawie, plus Noranians and Vilmanians who'd rather not read anything about Mega.
[o] those who had PTSD-fuelled flashbacks of Mar Roxas' much-reviled "disente" slogan,
[p] those who name-drop powerful politicians as if it's supposed to strike fear in the hearts of people,
[q] those who find simply Sharon too onion-skinned and hence, pathetic,
[r] those who hate seeing other aggressive people brandish victim cards,
[s] those who hate seeing high-and-mighty virtue signallers,
[t] those Visayans who LP neglected post-Yolanda
[u] those who suffer from the transportation system we inherited from the Liberal Party,
[v] those who hate people who demand respect before earning it, or right after losing it,
[w] those who hate self-entitlement,
[x] those who want to read more important news but are forced to see Sharon's rants on their news feeds,
[y] those who believe Sharon will be better off she just stuck with showbiz and not dip her hands on politics, and,
[z] those na hirap na hirap na sa COVID-19 lockdown tapos idinagdag pa ni Sharon ang personal na problema ni Sharon sa isang damakmak nang mga alalahanin nila.
10. Obviously, the collective voice of these 26 groups is deafening, but they have the Right to Free Speech in as much as Frankie and Sharon do.
11. The resultant barrage of criticism against the Cuneta-Pangilinan made Sharon lose her cool and go on a TL;DR-esque Instagram rant, where she complained about the amount of disrespect the public threw at her husband Kiko and daughter Frankie.
12. Well, I understand Sharon's frustrations as a mother, and she has all the right to feel angry. She has all the right to feel anything, actually.
13. Nonetheless, Cuneta-Pangilinan critics are under no obligation to sympathize with her because this is a free country.
What's clear here is that the historically pa-tweetums Sharon Cuneta has gone postal, bordering on full-on cray-cray, apparently due to the general public's natural reaction to her family's recent statements, exacerbated by the baggage of the Liberal Party where her senator-husband sits as president.
And if she has indeed gone postal and full-on cray-cray, then why are we still listening to her?
Sharon, Sharon, Sharon... if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. Sure, we also abhor violence against women, but that doesn't mean we gotta agree with everything else your daughter says.
