From Miss America to Miss USA
Shandi first competed in Miss America 2003 where she was unplaced. She later competed in the rival pageant, Miss USA, again representing Missouri where she was hailed as the eventual winner, giving her the right to compete and represent the United States in Miss Universe Pageant held in Ecuador, where she finished first runner up to Australia’s Jennifer Hawkins.
#4. ADA AIMEE DELA CRUZ, YENDI PHILLIPS and PATRICIA RODRIGUEZ
From Miss World to Miss Universe
All three girls competed in Miss World in different years and managed to land in the semifinals. The three ladies also competed in the Miss Universe Pageant where all three shared the same fate by finishing first runner up in their respective years.
#3. MPULE KWELAGOBE
From Miss World to Miss Universe
Mpule Kwelagobe first competed in Miss World 1997 where she was unplaced. Two years later, she was crowned Miss Universe 1999 in Trinidad and Tobago. She made history as the first Miss Botswana to compete in Miss Universe and eventually won the top plum. She also secured the first back to back victory of ebony beauties in Miss Universe.
#2. MICHELLE MCLEAN
From Miss World to Miss Universe
Contrary to what a certain former here claims regarding the fate of Miss World alumni in Miss Universe stage, McLean finished in fourth place in Miss World 1991 and was later crowned Miss Universe 1992.
#1. LARA DUTTA AND PRISCILLA MEIRELLES
From Minor Pageant to Miss Universe / Miss Earth respectively
Lara Dutta, the second Indian to win the Miss Universe crown, was crowned Miss Intercontinental three years earlier. Meirelles on the other hand, was crowned Miss Globe in 2003 and the following year, she was crowned Miss Earth 2004.
