It seems the theme of Asia's Next Top Model cycle 5 "Expect the Unexpected" became a trend recently like Maureen's won over Shikin and Tu at AsNTM cycle 5 finale to District of Columbia's back to back victory at Miss USA 2017 to Sasha Velour's victory at Rupaul's Drag Race season 9 to Karen Ibasco's victory at Miss Philippines Earth 2017.
Now will this trend continues?

What is so surprising about Karen Ibasco's win when she obviously nailed every part of the competition? Esecially the q n a.

"Expect the unexpected" factors in in any competition. Some girls are lucky enough to nail their answers while other don't. It's a confluence of factors and a matter of luck, says Gloria Diaz about her win.

Expect the unexpected, yes from FB to politics to beauty pageants to Martial law to Marawi City to Trump to North Korea missive tests, and well social media in general..
Expect more disappointments, anxieties, surprises, short term happiness, violence, etc. in the generation of the millennials.

Excuse me Mr. Palafox,
It is not our (the millenials) fault if older generation like you have a lot of disappointments, anxieties, loneliness in life.
You make your own life, don't blame it on others!

Maureen is an "expected" winner for experts..but for an expert 2.0 like you, she is an "unexpected" winner.
Ms Earth is KF pageant so there!

It is unexpected because the girl may have nailed the competition as you said BUT the Miss Air was more beautiful. And pageants have to think long run, you can teach an Oxana how to speak and walk better. But even if the walks and speaks well, if she is not exactly pretty then she will probably fail at the competition. The girl was okay but not the best option in the long run

EXACTLY!
It's sad that there are some people who are contented settling in mediocrity when there are BETTER options!

At Miss Earth I "unexpect" the non-placement of Venezuela this year in the winners' circle and the crowning of a European winner.

She grabs the most attention here, followed by Eco Tourism.
She can be competitive at Miss Earth!

I could really say that the Philippine pageant scene this year is leaning to be the "Year of Speakers".

Yeah, if her aura, intelligence, and speaking skills could eclipse all of these girls that are supposedly prettier than she is, she could do the same thing at Miss Earth.
In any case I don't expect her to win -- would be too soon for the Philippines.

I hope your "unexpectation" rings true! For now, I hope for countries other than Brazil and Venezuela to place and for Miss Earth Poland (beautiful) and Mis Earth Sweden (sexy) to get called, for a change!
