I would love it to have Philippines hosting even for once in the history of Miss World and show to the world the beauty (talents, culture, sceneries) of the country after the recent Miss Universe failed to do it. I want to see a Philippine version of China in 2003 and Indonesia in 2013. Indeed two very colorful editions where the culture of the host nations was showcased tremendously

If the Philippines wants to host a major pageant (outside of Miss Earth) to help promote its tourism to a worldwide audience, I say host the Miss Universe again but this time...make sure that the local culture is featured heavily during the entire show. I still think Miss Universe is the most watched major pageant out there...at least from countries where a lot of potential tourists come from. The level of excitement it generates is still unmatched by any other pageant. So you still get more bang for the buck.

Let's face the fact that Philippines is a Miss Universe country. Bringing Miss World to the Philippines won't do miracle to our tourism. Besides Miss World is still not that popular in the country.

Sad that beauty pageants are almost always festooned with political flavor. Parenting an orphan in reverse order, what else! Pun intended!

A personal preference is a matter of choice. But it cannot overrule a decision that is based solely on synergized private initiative. No worries. I can see where you're coming from.

Yes, and no other.

MW should look at this as a winning strategy. If that materializes, public approval is guranteed to follow. In the wake of Catriona's unsuccessful stint, the wounds inflicted shall heal. The scar may stay but with the rift mended is such a welcome balancing act.

To a certain extent, hosting 2019 might extricate MW stature as being "unpopular" amongst the Filipinos preferential zone. With a good chance a 2nd Ms World is not too farfetched and should the elusive crown come along sweet victory shall supplant the lingering doubts. I could sense this fits into Vegafria's scheme of things to prioritize on.

Miss World Philippines knows very well that a global pageant of this magnitude requires unmatched resources. The losing proposition is not lost within periphery of the critics whose greater number prefers Ms U among its current counterparts. But Miss World Philippines is not daunted. They keep on pushing!

Under Vegafria, the new managemen has a vision and a mission to accomplish. Coffers are empty. Yet they're willing to gamble even without the prospect of favorable financial returns. They're hopeful they will overcome the obstacles.

Some wealthy citizens have come to the rescue and private businessmen enlisted their support as major sponsors of the event. With a positive government endorsement forthcoming, the chips are stashed in favor of Miss World Philippines.

We are not privy to the full details as we speak but Vegafria is in hot pursuit. We will know more about this in the weeks ahead. Hats-off to Arnold and his re-energized hard-working Team. For a second Ms W crown and for the Philippines!

Incidentally, did you know that in addition to Ms Earth, one ambitious pageant with a global reach traces its origins in the Philippines and that is, Ms Global. Ms Global will celebrate three years if my recall is correct and broadcast the show to a global audience. The show is warmly received by Filipinos in the know including audiences abroad that send a delegate annually to this pagent.

I add this trivia to reinforce the notion that Filipinos are indeed enthusiastic followers of beauty pageants. The people may be poor, yet there are individuals among them willing to spend vast fortunes for reasons they only knew why. Never mind how decadent and frivolous a pageant may appear to the personal taste among the disgruntled of this world.

And yet, these realities did not deter Cory Quirino Global Quest and Vegafria & Company from pushing the merits of a world-class show to be held in splendor in Philippine shores.

Defeatists, cynics, and whiners are elemental to the equation. But Arnold is not about to give up. He's undaunted and persists to beat the odds. His mission: to capture the 2nd crown of MW for the Philippines.

The number of tourists being lured to visit the Philippines is a DOT mandate. Enticing them to come is secondary in intent and purpose to the new team.

As we're in this topic, what harm would it bring if the numbers add up? We can't beat Thailand and Malaysia in the tourist arrival race, but in some ways an encouraging positive attitude to change is a good place to start. Don't you think so?

Spending on the part of the government sector (DOT) is elemental to the cause.

What remains under probe is "extra" government spending more than what was stipulated under a specific budget period. I think that DOT had for FY2017 allocated fixed budgeted items for similar activities classified in that category.

Hence, Miss World Philippines had to present their hosting proposal in the context of how the undertaking will benefit the objective to which it was intended.

The new Miss World Philippines management Team is aware of requirements in the DOT budget approval process, hence, Vegafria's approach is calculated yet inalienable.

NO to hosting the world-(in)famous cooking show for me, but I'd be fine with Arnold Vegafria pushing the bar higher for the local pageant, especially in terms of production and in keeping the "high caliber" of beauties Cory Quirino has cultivated so far (this should pressure the other local pageants to up the ante as well).

If, after three or four years, Arnold still has funds (if the master chef hasn't sucked up all his resources yet :%))) and has established a solid reputation as a great beauty queen maker, he can veer away from the world-(in)famous cooking show (it's going to be their loss) and focus on other, growing international pageants where the Philippines can make a significant dent.

For tourism, nah i really dont think it made a huge impact after we hosted it. We need better transportations on how to reach these beautiful islands in the philippines. Not all are into extreme travels. My friend who is not a pinoy went to palawan but he went to the other part where its easy to access. He said that its a plane ride and another 4hrs drive to reach the other resort. No i cant deal with that. Its like going to vegas from LA.

On the other hand, i want Phil to host Miss International but this time classy with a flair. Lets focus on the pageants that matter to us. Miss World is like Miss Intercontinental i see no difference except production but the choosing of winners are also dubious. And, in case Catriona will win Miss Universe you will never hear the end of MASSIVE hate that MW will get from pinoys. :%))

I like to think that Vegafria and Company has weathered the pain ahead of the rest. They're poised to parry the blows for the sake of honor and pride.

"After rain there's a rainbow, after a storm there's calm, after the night there's a morning, and after an end there's a new beginning." Pardon the cliche.

Shes the one who has the grudge on us and she took it more deeper last year. Im one of those people... Well like venezuela, they dont need to host a pageant to win it.

Oh Cige po... Wag kang manood ha! heheheh Joke Lang!

In the privacy of our own room, syempre mag muni-muni. Kakayanin kaya na hindi makinood? O makikipagbalita? Andyan kaya si Ms Philippnes! Joke, joke, joke!
